We just dropped in the see the Villa bullet holes and decides to have a drink. Although the staff knew we were just there to look around the bartender Fabian was so kind he brought us an appetizer on the house. A must stop.

All I can say is that they need to be more polite cause the service ( owner, weiters, bartenders ) are owful they are rude and inpersonal and if you come with two people they wont give you a table even if the place is empty. Also the food is not good. They also charge you the service with out... More

Stopped there for a drink, we pay a 200 ticket with a 1000 bill to get the change as if we paid with a 500 bill, and there is nothing you can do. Management, waiter and cashier all colluded, a mafia gang.

I loved La Opera bar. Not because of particularly outstanding service, but simply for the historic value. The great architecture is a plus. I ordered, and enjoyed, the tortilla soup with a couple of beers. I do not have a whole lot to say about the place except it is a nice place to stop, have a few beers, listen... More

Sure the place is atmospheric, but that's about it. The food is not good, the service very impersonal. And they add funny things to your bill. The best option is certainly to come and have a drink by the bar. But you should avoid the restaurant

We stop here only because we have come downtown on a Saturday afternoon. Its old and has character. The building is owned by the government and leased to the bar owner. We never eat here, we just have a drink at the bar. This is a daytime place. The streets clear out at dark.

I was extremely disappointed with this place. We had the worst service ever when we went to la Opera last week-end. After spending 3 months in Meixco city, i have visited many bars and restaurants, but i never had such a rude service as in La Opera. The decor is worth seeing, but that's about it. The manager and waiters... More

I went there over the weekend with a friend and the manager was rude and wouldn't give us a table even though half the place was empty because we were only 2 customers. There are far better options downtown with a much better service

Private booths dot the outer rim of this 19th century bar and restaurant just a few blocks from the Zocalo. Vested waiters serve a number of good mole dishes for about $5 US, and the wall of fame here is quite impressive. Photos of presidents, movie stars, and yes, an article about Pancho Villa's famous ride in the front door... More

The Bar La Opera will repay the serious afficionado of Porfirato-epoch Mexico culture. I have been eating and drinking there for the last 20 years. Do you speak polite Spanish? Are you properly attired? Can you read a menu in Spanish? Do you know the protocols for dealing with musicians in a fine restaurant? Then stride on in, amigo, and... More
