We stayed down in the Centro Historico district when we visited Mexico City. Very safe. Tons of cops everywhere. Shops, eating places, etc.. too many to mention. Also lots of historical buildings. Beautiful place. Highly recommend staying down in this area.

A lot of the main attractions (Zocalo, Cathedral, Templo Mayor, government buildings, etc.) are in this part of the city. There's also a lot of shopping and food, as in restaurants and little street restaurants. It's a great place to stroll.

What a great place - great location, just minutes from the heart of the city. The staff was tremendously nice and accommodating. Water and apples free all the time on every floor. Water is crucial and free water is a really great feature. Great food and free anytime. Just stay here, you won't regret it!!!!

Centro Historico can be enjoyed and understood best by joining many of the the free walking tours, or on one of the free group bikes available around the Zocalo. There are so many beautiful architectural periods on display, and even better, countless buuldings are open for free access to the public. One of my favourites is the old post office.... More

Really nice place to visit with a family or even alone; If you are coming from Reforma, it on the way to Zocalo. If you enjoy running, it is a perfect place for a morning activity. A must go !

Staying in Alameda

Neighbourhood Profile
Alameda
This beautiful park was once the playground for the wealthiest families in the colonial era, and is now the perfect place where locals and visitors can spend a sunny weekend afternoon to relax or shop for souvenirs at the market. Kids can run around or grab a bite of cotton candy while teens and adults wander around admiring the charming gardens and the sculptures that adorn it. Once the heat rises, it may be time to visit one of the many cozy restaurants or cafés with its characteristic art nouveau facades to cool down and call it a day.
