This is not the most beautiful square with weeds and non-functioning fountains. There are certainly a lot of people either loafing around, selling trinkets or playing chess. The Museo Mural Diego Rivera is located at one corner.

Fun place for locals and tourists alike. Great area to get a snack, agua fresca, fresh fruit, cotton candy, or some little useless nick-knacks. I did find a really cool pair of reading glasses at a booth here. Cost less than $5 USD. This plaza is a great stop if you're spending time in Alameda Central. Day or night, the... More

Staying in Alameda

Neighbourhood Profile
Alameda
This beautiful park was once the playground for the wealthiest families in the colonial era, and is now the perfect place where locals and visitors can spend a sunny weekend afternoon to relax or shop for souvenirs at the market. Kids can run around or grab a bite of cotton candy while teens and adults wander around admiring the charming gardens and the sculptures that adorn it. Once the heat rises, it may be time to visit one of the many cozy restaurants or cafés with its characteristic art nouveau facades to cool down and call it a day.
