I’m not sure why this place got 4.6, waste of time since the kiosk is dirty, the surroundings are full of dogs caca and pee the whole park and around the kiosk smell like pee. Dont waste your time with those free tours, if you really want to go there take the metro and walk to the square. The Mercado is about 3 blocks maybe good to see fresh produce and buy a very fresh drink for $25 pesos. In my opinion not worth it.

The intricacy of design marks this edifice as fine art and is an icon in This ‘hood. the park is not flash and maybe that’s its better attraction contemplating perfection.

Looking for different places to visit we decided to check out Kiosco Morisco in north side colonia Santa Maria de Ribera. Easy access from Metrobus Line 1 at the Buenavista stop.

Originally designed by Mexican engineer José Ramón Ibarrola, the original purpose of the very un-Mexican in design kiosk was to represent Mexico as the Mexican Pavillion at the New Orlean’s International Exposition from 1884-1885, and at the Saint Louis, Missouri Fair in 1904.
After it was moved back to Mexico and positioned next to the historic centre’s Alameda Central in 1906. It briefly becoming the location for the National Lottery draws. Its time in Alameda Central came to an end due to the whim of President Porfirio Díaz in 1910. Díaz decided to construct the Hemiciclo a Juárez in the spot occupied by the Kiosco Morisco. This twist of fate and fancy led to the kiosco being relocated for a third time to its current home in Santa María.

Alameda Santa Maria could use a bit of upkeep. Four fountain at the four corners of the park and none work or look to have received any maintenance for some time. Regardless, the Kiosco is another example of what makes Mexico City such a fine place to visit.

Kiosco Morisco is a beautiful centerpiece in the Parque Alameda de Santa Maria. On a warm November Sunday afternoon I found a band playing and theater auditions on the kiosco. And what's best about the kiosco is the amazing park that it's housed in--Alameda de Santa Maria.

Stunning show of Moroccan architecture. Tranquil park with fountains that give home to this impressive installation.
