Only a food market. Seems that all the locals, ALL OF THEM, can be here eating so therefore the street food in here must be good. However, I was on the hunt for gifts for home and found that more helpful next door at Mercado Benito Juarez!

Mole, mangoes, chico zapote, tlayudas, tostadas, fresh juices, breads, and more, so much more. It is a feast for all your senses. Such good and cheap eats. Grab a couple of bags of mole paste to take home as a delicious souvenir. I would have eaten here every day if not for my travel partner, who wanted a finer dining experience for a couple of meals.

Went here yesterday to get a few items such as chiles, mole, and a few souvenirs as well. Market is bigger than I would have thought!

I must during a visit to Oaxaca, fresh chickens, produce, bread.
There is an enclosed "alley" with multiple vendors selling meats by the kilo who then grill it for you. Purchase vegatables, salsas and tortillas separately.

A real treat!!

Pure chaos! I loved it! The Pasillo de Humo (alley of smoke) was just an amazingly fun experience. You pick your meat, they find a place for you to sit, you buy your condiments and drinks, then they bring the cooked meat and tortillas to you and... yum from there! If you can stand noise and chaos, and sharing your tables with some locals... and a very smokey room (from all the grills), this place will have your mouth watering for more! I recommend the cecina, and don't forget the grilled onions for your condiments.

Fui a comer carnes asadas y está delicioso todo porque puedes elegir tu carne y te lo preparan en el momento; los aromas y la atención la sentías a flor de piel.

I went to eat roast meats and everything is delicious because you can choose your meat and they prepare it for you at the moment; the aromas and the attention you felt on the surface.

It is real oaxacan street food but they charge it as if it is served in a real restaurant, the same dishes with the same taste can be found in any street stall in town at half the price. Nothing to see in the market other than fresh fruits and overpriced food aimed at tourists.

Great market to wander around to get a feel the culture and city. In the center there are a large number of stalls to get various types of cuisine. Should try the Tlayupas or Capulinos here.
