When visiting Oaxaca, most people visit the Monte Alban archeological site. Having seen the impressive remains of that ancient city state it is understandable that visitors to Oaxaca will call it a day for archeological sites and explore the other charming aspects of the city....More

Few visitors when touring the grounds, well delineated. Several ballcourts and level to the plazas. Hawks soar about the mountain top with spectacular views of Oaxaca and the Valley to match the archiology. No entry fee, no museum, no services.

The hike is worth the view. Just recently opened in the past five years this site brings to mind all there is in Oaxaca state that has yet to be discovered. Very interesting to walk through these ancient ruins.

The 3 of us hired a taxi and went here after stopping at the amphitheater for some pictures of the city. Except for 2 others, we were the only people at the entire site. This was on a Friday around noon. It's a relatively recent...More

The zone Archeological of Atzompa is smaller than Monte Alban and has not received as much attention as Monte Alban do. Only 10 % of the Atzompa site has been excavated. If you look around you will see much more evidence of many more structures...More
