We bought different types of chocolates w/o actually understanding what they are. Initially we supposed those are to be eaten. That was not correct, at least for ours. One shall read the advise on the box - ours were to prepare a hot chocolate drink....More

This place is fun. They grind the beans and make the finished chocolate among other things like mole right there. The 60% was my favorite and I am currently indulging in a cup of cocoa made with this chocolate when I need a treat. The...More

If you want the real chocolate experience, do not miss this place! We bought some excellent mole and tasted some of the most scrumptious chocolate that ever existed.... Mmmmmm....

While I prefer Soledad across the street, Majordomo makes some outstanding chocolate. You can get it in boxes or have them grind it for you fresh (the best way!). There are several different flavors, different mixtures of sugar, cinnamon and nuts.

As soon as you walk in, it's bliss. We only spent a short time visiting but we got a bit of an education about how the chocolate is made and how many ways it is used in Oaxacan cuisine. And of course bought some chocolate...More

Chocolate of all kinds from the beans to boxes, individual pieces and more. Love the small individual pieces and bought boxes of both semi-bitter and bitter to bring home. A great place to stock up.

While it may not be the finest chocolate, Mayordomo stores are key to understanding chocolate in Oaxacan culture. Visit the store at Mina and 20 de Noviembre and to see/smell the grinding of the chocolate and spices for distinctive drinks or moles. Taste a free...More

Just the aroma here is to die for! Why 5 stars? Well...we asked them to modify one of their chocolate recipes to include less sugar and they were more than happy to accomodate us. Our kilo of freshly ground chocolate cost us roughly $7.50USD. What's...More
