Covering all aspects of the Mexican navy (history, equipment, training, materiel, historical uniforms, etc.) this national museum utilizes modern technology to involve the visitor at every phase of this well planned, well executed, and extensive museum. The only shortcoming is that they do not offer an audio guide in English.

Great naval museum, with a lot of rooms (all air conditioned) full with historic things of the Veracruz harbor and the Mexican Navy, several scale models of ships, planes, helicopters (one real), guns, uniforms, and all the naval parafernalia and traditions within a historic building. A must if you visit the city.

An excellent stop in Veracruz. The museum shows off the history of Mexico's navy along with the history of the Port of Veracruz and its role in Mexican history, One room also shows the role navies play in maintaining the health of the world's oceans. Exhibits feature paintings, weapons, uniforms and several very clever computer aided effects, of special interest to children. Most of the exhibits are only described in Spanish. The museum does not offer wifi. It does have good air conditioning for hot days. There is a small cafe with a gift shop.

It was a rainy day so I had to do something different in Veracruz. I decided to visit the museum downtown Veracruz. There you can see or get to know some aspects of the mexican history through the history of navy in Mexico. There you can see haw native Mexicans used to sail and their batles in the sea and coast before the Spaniards came. There you can also see some ship types and also you can try your skill with a ship simulator. There is a psecial hal dedicated to the U.S. invasion in 1914, where many brave Mexicans died. In my opinion it is a great place to visit with kids, it is design to have them involved and entertained.
