This is a good place in the Hotel Zone for photo ops. Plenty of Iguanas and backdrops. The bus stop is very close. The reception wasnt very welcoming. The man at the counter needs some real lessons in manners. I suggest you go early in...More

We enjoyed walking through the ruins and seeing all the iguana's tanning on the ruins. If you want a taste of ruins without a long bus ride, I would check this site out.

Worthwhile if you have a couple of hours to spend. My daughter and I did this after a morning of diving. Closes at 5 PM so get there by 3 or 3:30 if you want to tour the whole thing. Great photo ops and you...More

We took the bus down from our hotel in Punta Cana and got there early in the morning around 8:30am. It was completely deserted!!! Very cool to walk around the ruins by ourselves. Tons of iguanas of ALL sizes! Watch out, they're everywhere! For the...More

Entry fee was less than $5. Small park like strip at the south end of the Hotel strip of Cancun. Iguanas are the main inhabitants but a local guide told us they let the crocs in at night to keep them under control since they...More

We rented a fun sports car and drove around the area and just happened on this little gem. We had been to Chichen Itza the day before, but loved the smaller archaeological version hidden off the beaten path. No crowds, no vendors to ruin the...More

From the hotel zone or el centro 'el rey ruins' are just a quick R1 bus ride away (10.5 pesos). The ruins themselves cost around 47 pesos. The ruins aren't as "majestic" as some others that are a couple hours away (Tulum, Xichen Itza), but...More

I found this before I went to Cancun and it was only about 10 minutes from our hotel, I asked and was told it was a waste of time (thats because they were trying to sell me on the pyramid packages). With limited money to...More

We were lucky and were the only ones here so were able to wander round and soak up the atmosphere. It's a really inexpensive attraction and worth going for the iguanas alone. It's really easy to get to on the local bus which has a...More

This was the first archelogical site I visited in Mexico. Largely because it was located only a few hundred meters from my hotel. Most buses along the hotel strip pass this site and the bus stop is even closer than my hotel so excelent for...More

El Rey is a fine local attraction, but is really nothing like as impressive as Chichen Itza. It's much closer, much cheaper, not crowded, much, much smaller and has less impressive ruins. I can't speak for the museum as I... More

Coming from the airport, it's to the left (opposite the ocean) about a kilometer or so before you start to see hotels. I walked there from the Royal Islander resort. It's near Playa Delfines and the Cancun block letters that... More
