To be honest, I previously never been to Cancun before and was confused between the Museo Maya and the El Rey ruins, thinking they were one of the same. But later realized they are two different Maya ruin locations. However, I would recommend visiting both places back to back on your first visit to Cancun. I went to El Reys... More

Loved the manageable Zona Archeologica outside in the manicured garden. Explanations in English were helpful and the trees allayed the heat. The architecture of the exhibit building is interesting and it was easy to navigate. The permanent collection helped my understanding of the Yucatan with the bilingual signage. It was an interesting way to spend several hours

I would have like to have seen the displays with English translations. The displays are nicely laid out but without translation I had no idea what they meant.

This museum gives you a very good understanding of the Mayan culture. It is very informative. I especially love the outdoor areas for the landscaping and the Mayan ruins that are shown.

An important cultural takeaway from a visit to Cancun is awareness of the ancient Maya civilizations and the continuing Maya culture in the Yucatan. This museum provides an eloquent history, well worth the visit. Even if you're not inclined to read all of the stuff on museum walls, read the information at this museum. And stroll through the modest Mayan... More

Would not take US currency. Didn't go back to get currency exchange. You would think they would do this onsite. We stayed right next door at Omni hotel but nobody told me this. Looked like an interesting place to visit.

This museum set in an archeological site is so outstanding, we returned for a second visit during our short week in Cancun. The gleaming white modern building contrasts sharply with the archeological walk along the perimeter of this complex. The signage is good and path is easy to follow. The museum on the upper level has great views of the... More

Mostly in Spanish, but enough English descriptions to make it worthwhile. The ruins on the property are also nice. Iguanas roaming the grounds are an extra treat. Highly recommended for a quick few hours.

This was an well maintained museum & ruins that gave some insight into Mayan life. There were many artifacts and the outside grounds were shaded nicely for a hot day. Lots of iguanas too.
