Just another complex of shops that are there to haggle you to no end. Most of the wares are cheap trinkets. The taxi driver that took us there must have been getting a kick back from a jewelry shop. They gave out nearly unlimited shots...More

We visited Mercado 23 after visiting Mercado 28, which is pretty much better. Mercado 23 is more a vegetable and flea market, with some stores of souvenirs and grease- spoon restaurants (Mexican, seafood and Chinese). If you miss it, you are not missing much.

We took a taxi from our hotel to get there and it's the best way to find the market for the first time. The neighborhood is not nice, bur the market is very good and not only for tourists. They sell some handicrafts, cheaper than...More

We like to go a bit off the beaten path when traveling to enjoy a more local experience as opposed to the very touristy spots. Mercado 23 is just that - a local market. The prices were very reasonable and the vendors are laid back...More

My husband and I are the off the beaten path tourists, we tend to shun the touristy and go for the off the beaten path attractions. Mercado 23 definitely fits into the off the tourist track mold since it is smaller, includes shops selling souvenir...More

Most of Cancun is tailored for foreigners and and their diverse needs. On our latest trip I wanted to explore some more locally produced goods and flavors and so we chose to come out here. It is not very large, but it is bustling, colorful...More

My family and I enjoy leaving the touristy areas a little during a trip. But travelling to this outdoor market was just a disappointment for me. The getting there involved risk, we took a public bus, then followed vague directions from some locals, but once...More

From the ADO bus station, it is about half kilometer walk. There are two main markets; 23 and 28. I went to Mercado 23 market and I was disappointed. I did not really see anything that tickled my fancy. It was all “made in China”...More

This is where the local people buy their food and eat aturde different small eateries places. This is where you can practice you Spanish and eat very authentic food. The taste was great and inexpensive food.

We had a local chef as a guide through the market, and we were able to sample foods from several vendors. We loved the farmer's market feel and all of the sights and smells! Wish I had it closer to home!
