My wife and I suddenly realized that we were about to leave the Riviera Maya and had not visited Chichen Itza. We decided to try and book a group tour for sometime in the next few days. We shopped around and called Flavio's tours because of the reviews.

We were bummed to discover that they were pretty booked up but could do a private tour of just the two of us for the cost of three adults. We said we'd think about it (honestly, we were seriously considering it) and that we would call back to let them know one way or the other. About 30 minutes later Carol calls us to let us know that another couple in Cancun was looking for a tour the next morning. Over a few calls and texts, Carol worked her butt off coordinating between us and the other couple and got us confirmed for a very small group tour of two couples. We would be picked up at our hotel by their second team and the other couple would get picked up by Flavio from theirs in Cancun. We would meet where the roads converged and hop into Flavio's group and be off.

It went butter smooth. We had breakfast, met our driver who identified himself, identified us and gave us a refresh of the plan. We met the other group and joined them for a surprisingly fun drive to our first stop. Flavio was enthusiastic, informative, and very clearly loves what he does and entertaining others. He also loves supporting locals. At various points, he points out local vendors and shares little bits about them encouraging us to buy local. It was not a hard sell or uncomfortable at all and we gladly bought souvenirs, snacks and such from people all day.

We had a great tour of Valladolid, a wonderful lunch and swim at a quiet cenote, and finally Chichen Itza (all while enjoying complimentary videos, snacks, drinks and beer in the van).

At Chichen Itza, our guide "Tortuga" was a Rock Star. Everyone knew him, and he was an endless source of information, history, local news, customs, anything. My wife and I joked about calling him "Tortoogle".

I can not recommend these guys enough. They're a small operation that treats every guest like family they like.

Flávio was right on time for the hotel pick up and we were soon on the ferry over to Cozumel for what was a fantastic day

We had a quick coffee break on arrive and then a short distance down the coast, away from the bustling port, to a quiet location to pick up the boat. We had a large boat all too ourselves!

The crew were great and made sure that we had all the equipment we needed to feel safe in the water
Flávio had already starting to take the photos and videos on his camera and used two GoPro’s for the underwater shots .

The snorkelling at the first site was amazing we were surrounded by loads of beautiful fish and were able to clearly see the amazing coral

I must admit I felt privileged to be with Flávio when I saw all the other boats with 15+ people on. We were so safe with Flávio and a crew member with us that I was able to free dive to take pictures myself staying well away from coral of course

The star fish at the next snorkelling spot were incredible, no one knows quite why this area has so many large types of this creature, but were able to take our time and enjoy seeing them without being surrounded by lots of other snorkelers.

The crew made sure we were well looked after with snacks and drinks

The third site was excellent with sun breaking through to illuminate this vast area. We were so lucky to be travelling Flávio tour and we enjoy the calm and clear seas and brilliant sunshine .

After the last snorkel we went back to port and a short taxi ride to the Money Bar for lunch which was all included in the price of the day and was just lovely Great food and view

When you go on a Flávio tour everything is included in the price so you can just relax and enjoy your day.
.
We had a short time before getting ferry back where enjoyed half an hour in Playa del Carmen main square near the beach just watching the local entertainment and listening to the music.

Flávio, downloads the photos and video he has taken to a your memory stick so you can relax and not worry about taking your own, unless you want to of course,

So if you want a unique day(s) out with an amazing guide then contact Carol at Flávio’s tours, she will answer all your questions quickly and do her utmost to make sure your tour is special for you .

Our memories of this fantastic day will stay with us forever - thank you Flávio and Carol

My parents and I decided on Flavio for our tour to Chichen Itza on our first visit to Mexico. Flavio is a one man business, and his wife Carol is the contact who organizes the trips. Carol is very responsive by email and text/call. We went with Flavio on May 19th, 2022 (the same day that I am writing this review). The day started off around 6 AM when Flavio came to pick us up at our hotel. I was told that our group could have up to 2-4 more people (so a total of 5-7), but on this day it was just my parents and me. In his car, he had tons of drinks and snacks, which is always a nice added touch. First, we drove to the town of Valladolid where Flavio explained the history of how Mexicans came to be. He bought us coffee and also bought us a mamey fruit, something we had never heard of before. In case you are interested, it looks like a mix of papaya and avocado, and tastes mildly sweet like a sweet potato! We then went to a cenote where Flavio was our personal tour guide and photographer. He is very experienced as a tour guide and very obviously loves his job. He seems to know all the people he interacts with! The cenote was beautiful and refreshing, and Flavio does a great job explaining it. Afterward, we ate AYCE buffet of Mexican food and Flavio showed us his salsa dance moves. We then drove to Chichen Itza, where Enrique was our tour guide and again, Flavio was our personal photographer. We spent a good few hours here and throughout the entire day never felt rushed. We arrived back to the hotel around 7 PM.

When I was looking for tours to Chichen Itza (as we did not want to drive/plan the trip ourselves), I was between a big tour bus group and Flavio. I decided on going with Flavio due to his good reviews and he did not disappoint! You will not be disappointed with Flavio, as the tour is personalized to your small group and you do not feel rushed at any point in the day. Unlike an experience with the big tour buses, you are never pressured into buying anything you don't want, nor will you be rushed from location to location (as I read in other reviews). Flavio will personalize your trip and make your experience in Mexico great!

At the end of the day, Flavio gave us the photos and videos he took of us (we brought our own USB drive). His attention to detail on this trip could not be emphasized more, from his punctuality to his personality (Case in point: we even saw a dog on the highway when we made a restroom stop, and Flavio proceeded to feed the dog the snacks he brought- a testament to his caring personality!). I highly recommend this trip to anyone looking for a more personalized experience to one of the new 7 wonders of the world. He also does other tours to other places in Mexico, including snorkeling. When I return to Mexico again, I will be sure have Flavio take me on more of his tours.

Thank you again to Flavio and his wife Carol!

Although doing a more private tour cost more than a big shared bus, it was well worth it! First of all, as we were e-mailing back and forth during the booking, Carol answered all of our questions with a lot of details and suggestions based on what "we wanted" our schedule to be. So, there's way more flexibility versus a "canned" big bus tour.

We (2 adults and 3 teenagers) did Chichen Itza and Cenote one day and then Tulum/Cenote/Snorkeling the next. Both days involved a lot of driving of course. But it was much better to be in our own private van. Flavio was a great driver/host. He made sure we were all comfortable in his air conditioned van. There was plenty of room for us 5 - lots of water, sodas, juices, snacks etc. He planned a couple of bathrooms stops along the way. And I'm sure if we had an unplanned bathroom emergency, he could have easily stopped and found something for us. In fact, we mentioned that we'd really like to have coconut water and fresh mangos when we got back to the hotel, and Flavio took a quick detour down a couple roads and found us a fresh fruit stand ! We didn't mean for him to hear us and divert the van, but he sincerely wants to take the best care of his customers.

Flavio and Carol both speak very good English so no issues with language. All of the entry fees, lunch, and other misc expenses were covered in the price of each ticket. He used professional guides at Chichen Itza and Tulum which again was included in the ticket already. Flavio knows a lot of the history himself, but it was nice to have both Flavio and the guide together.

This last part is priceless. Flavio is a great photographer. Everywhere we went, he took tons of pictures with his camera for us. and if we wanted to use our phones, he would take them for us. Sometimes, it's hard in a crowd to tell other tourists to clear out so you can take a group pic of the family. But, Flavio is great, he just yells out, "Family ! stand right here for pictures" and because he looks like a professional photographer that we hired, all of the tourists would respect Flavio and move out of the way. We have so many pictures of the beautiful Mayan structures with nobody in the background! I suggest bringing a large portable drive. I brought a 128G drive and still had plenty of room on it. Flavio took at least 150+ pics and videos each day for us and loaded them on the portable drive before he dropped us off.

From the minute Flavio picked us up at 6am each morning until the minute he dropped us off, we were in good hands the entire day. We felt safe, comfortable, and had absolutely zero stress knowing that Carol and Flavio were taking care of us.

Flavio took us to Chichen Itza and Ek Balam in one day. This was a very long day but worth every minute. The price included professional guides at both sites, snacks, drinks, an absolutely delicious lunch, and all of the photos you would want taken for you and copied to a flash drive (bring your own). Flavio is down to earth, kind, knowledgeable, and just a genuinely fun person to be around. Both of these sites were incredible in different ways and deserved more time than we had to see them, but I'm thrilled we were able to visit both on our trip to Cancun. Ek Balam is less well known, but I cannot recommend it enough for the setting, smaller crowds, and ability to actually climb atop the pyramid. I highly recommend Flavio's Tours - everything was exactly as advertised and the trip lived up to all of the positive reviews.

I just did his Chichen itza/cenote/valladoloid tour yesterday with my partner and we enjoyed it! His tour was 165$ cash. We left early morning to get to Chichen itza before the crowds came. The tour guide for Chichen was a sweet older gentleman with 40 years of experience and cared about the topic. Flavio was funny and was our personal photographer throughout the whole thing so that was one less thing to worry about. The cenote was beautiful and so much fun. The 165$ included lunch, snacks, life jackets for the cenote, and admission to Chichen and the cenote.Would absolutely recommend his tours.

The day started at 6am sharp; we were picked up on time by Flavio. He created such a wonderful environment. Incredibly personable and informative. He is passionate about his business and it shows through out the tour. We met with Enrique at Chichen Itzu where he provided detailed information and history of the ruins. Throughout the tour Flavio took photos which captured our trip beautifully. Our next stop was food/cenote. The food was in an covered outdoor seating area with traditional Mexican food. All very tasty. Following the lunch we made our way down into the cenote. It was beautiful and so refreshing. Our last stop was at a local town. We entered a small museum area where we learned more about the history and culture. Overall 10/10 experience. Flavio and his team did a wonderful job creating an intimate and memorable experience.

Ps! Thanks for trying to teach Greg some salsa! Hopefully I can get him into a class with me stateside 😊

Pros:
Small group size (only 2 additional people)
Timely pick up and drop off
Attention to detail and creating a personal experience
The driving! I’m usually nervous driving out of the country but they were incredibly aware and cautious.

We had a great time with Flavio on 5/31/22 with our private family trip for six to Chichen Itza. Flavio was right on time picking us up at our hotel and had cold beverages and snacks available as we made our drive. He provided in-depth information about the Mayan culture and history as well as facts about what we were going to see. Upon arriving his colleague Enrique met us and we started our walking tour of the grounds and Flavio took pictures of us and the sites to record the day which was great and that he gave us on a flash drive at the end of the trip. We spent close to three hours at Chichen Itza and then headed to a delicious buffet lunch where you could eat all you wanted (my teenage boys loved this) and then to an accompanying Cenote where we swam for over an hour. Next stop was a small historical village in Valladolid about 30 minutes away from the place for lunch and the Cenote where Flavio provided more historical information about the Mayan culture and Mexican history. This stop was late on the afternoon and they had all kinds of delicious deserts you could buy from local vendors. We then made our drive back which was about 2 1/2 hours as we were staying in between Playa Del Carmen and Cancun.

All in all a great trip with Flavio’s Tours. Be prepared for a long day though as we were picked up from our location at 6 am and with all the stops and visits returned at 7:30 pm that night. We had two teenagers and a two young twenty something’s that had a blast at the Cenote but weren’t always as patient with the tours and long drives. Flavio goes out of his way to be a great tour guide and host providing pictures you will have for a lifetime on a flash drive you can take home and with snacks and beverages in the vehicle.

We knocked an item of our bucket list seeing beautiful and wonderful Chichen Itza!

Well worth paying the extra to get a private tour with Flavio. We were able to slightly change the tour to concentrate on Chichen Itza, which was very impressive, but a lot easier having plenty of time to enjoy. A specialist tour guide joined us, Enriques, who gave us a full history of the Mayans. We had a late lunch at the hotel on site before leaving to visit Valladolid on the way back. There is a nice plaza to enjoy for 30 mins before heading back to the hotel. We were picked up and dropped off to our plan not restricted by being on a larger tour. Carol in the office dealt with all our needs with many emails crossing before we even got there. We had a cake at the hotel to celebrate our daughters birthday, plus Mayan birthdate cards and a memory stick of the photos from our tour. A great day with Flavio, with drinks and snacks. Perfect!

Flavio gave us such an incredible and memorable experience. It was personalized and very great at making the entire tour exciting even the drive time. It was a group of 7 friends celebrating a 30 and 39th birthday.
We learned the Mayan histories, visited a beautiful cenote, had lunch that had something for everyone and the amazing combined effort of Flavio and Enrique as tour guides for Chichén Itzá. Chichen itza itself is a magical place and one of the wonders of the world for a reason.
Flavio even had a great camera for documenting the entire trip for us and even provided USB drives with all of our photos and videos on the drive by the end of the tour.
Flavio’s personality added such a great effect on the entire trip. He also provided refreshments such as drinks and snacks for the drive.
There were plenty of bathroom breaks as well.
I’m very thankful that we got to cross paths and highly recommend a tour with Flavio.
