Flavio gave us such an incredible and memorable experience. It was personalized and very great at making the entire tour exciting even the drive time. It was a group of 7 friends celebrating a 30 and 39th birthday.
We learned the Mayan histories, visited a beautiful cenote, had lunch that had something for everyone and the amazing combined effort of Flavio and Enrique as tour guides for Chichén Itzá. Chichen itza itself is a magical place and one of the wonders of the world for a reason.
Flavio even had a great camera for documenting the entire trip for us and even provided USB drives with all of our photos and videos on the drive by the end of the tour.
Flavio’s personality added such a great effect on the entire trip. He also provided refreshments such as drinks and snacks for the drive.
There were plenty of bathroom breaks as well.
I’m very thankful that we got to cross paths and highly recommend a tour with Flavio.

We had a fantastic day trip with Flavio to Chichen Itza, a cenote and then a visit to the beautiful Valladolid. Flavio picked us up early with a minibus full of drinks and snacks. We had a pit stop for the toilet and Flavio then gave us a brief history of the Mayans and explained the Mayan calendar and the mathematics behind the temple El Castillo. We arrived at Chichen Itza early morning. This was late July and it was warm already at 9am. Flavio introduced us to our tour guide Enrique don arrival and we had a snack of fresh ripe mangos and granola bars…delicious. Flavio sorted all tickets and each family were given a parasol for shade (much needed as few areas to take shade). We each got a headset and it was a very interesting and educational tour. Each family had many photos taken by Flavio, he did very well to keep everyone engaged and moving as it was extremely humid. It really was spectacular, worth the long drive. We had some free time to shop at the stalls, all similar merchandise and Flavio bartered and got us some great prices and a treat for the children.
Back on the bus in much needed air con to nearby town for a buffet lunch. There was plenty of choice and they made me a vegetarian quesadilla. Much needed break and drink and then on to the cenote. Again spectacular just sums it up, just stunning. Several flights of stairs down and a life jacket later we were swimming in the cenote. The kids (aged 7,8,12 and 15) loved it here. They could jump in, rope swing and drop. Flavio was excellent again at taking photos of us all and videoing the children jumping in. After an hour or so the water was feeling cool so we showered off and departed to Valladolid.

What a beautiful town, vibrant coloured buildings and the central square was so picturesque. Flavio again gave us some history and took some more family group shots and then we had an hours free time to just looks about, get ice creams/crepes, shopping. There are many food carts and a fabulous ice cream shop. We very much enjoyed a bit of downtime. Then back on the bus and we all enjoyed a beer or 2, crisps, Mexican sweets. Flavio put the photos on a slideshow for us to watch driving home, we were so impressed with the quality of the photos we all had some fabulous shots. This made the day so much better as he took pics of all the sights for us as well. Obviously we took some selfies and photos ourselves but Flavio just knows the right angles. We arrived back at our hotel, Grand Riviera Princess about 7ish so was a very long day but extremely worthwhile. We couldn’t fly 11 hours and not visit Chichen Itza. Flavio provides everything you need and is such a lovely, friendly and factual guide. We liked him so much we booked him again for transport to Xel-ha, highly recommend.

Flavio is the best - he is incredibly welcoming, informative and passionate about what he does. We felt safe and comfortable at all times. He'll go out of his way to make sure you are taken care of and in control of your excursion. Plus, he is an excellent photographer and all the pictures he takes throughout the day are included at no extra cost! Overall amazing value, especially since it's pretty much a private tour.

Valladolid was our first stop, a charming town with some very interesting history we learned about. Next was the beautiful cenote which we enjoyed swimming in.

Lastly we arrived at Chichen Itza. It was awe inspiring seeing these nearly perfectly preserved ruins, and we learned so much about Mayan history, culture and mythology. Our guide at the ruins, Enrique, was so knowledgeable and took the time to answer all of our questions and explain everything in detail.

If you are on the fence, just book it. It's worth every penny and then some. Thank you Flavio for an unforgettable experience!

It was GREAT! We had lots of fun and Flavio is the perfect guide. Very laid-back and relaxed. The Tulum tour consists of 3 parts: visiting the Maya ruins, visiting a beautiful cenote, and snorkeling. 175 usd might seem like a lot of money but it was definitely worth it. Flavio arranged a tour guide on all three occasions which we would have otherwise never paid for (on the snorkeling part a guide is not really necessary but in the Maya town and cenote it definitely is!). I would certainly recommend everyone who is thinking about doing a trip in the region of Playa del Carmen to book a tour with Flavio. He'll provide you with food and drinks on the way to the next loction, and of course information. We received a USB stick at the end of the tour with all the videos and photos Flavio made along the way. Amazing, thanks Flavio!

Flavio and Carol are great!! They answered all our questions about the tour and didn't pressure us. We decided to go on their tour and it was worth every peso! Carol made sure that everything was arranged for us and we were picked up by Flavio. We were the only ones in the spacious van for the whole day. Flavio was very informative and a pleasure to talk with on many subjects. He shared an educational film and explained how the number system works. We visited Chichen Itza, swam in a cenote, had a delicious buffet, and visited a Spanish colonial town. The photos and video were a great momento of our trip. Flavio had a box full of snacks and a cooler full of cold drinks. It was first class service! We highly recommend Flavio and Carol's Tours.

Flavio made our experience go to the next level. He picked my husband and I up from our hotel, and provided drinks and snacks throughout the day. His friend guided us through the historic site in Chichen Itza and provided great information about everything. We were also provided an umbrella which was great since the day was (cloudy) but very hot. Then he took us for some amazing Mexican food and also to a cenote so we could swim. Before we headed back to the hotel, he took us to a downtown city nearby to learn a little bit more about Maya history and also to eat and shop if we wanted to. Our experience was amazing, and I totally recommend it. At the end of our tour, Flavio gave us a flashcard with pictures he had been taking of us all day.

We went as a family of 4. It was our first big family trip in a few years. Flavio added so much value to our vacation.

We booked two tours with him last week. One was a marathon Chitzen Itza/ Ek Balam/ Cenote and Villadolid. Second one was a snorkeling tour at Isla Mujeres.

Flavio's tours is Flavio and Carol. Carol is very organized, provides details and also communicates important info , pricing and details, eg. small bags, sunscreen rules, etc.
Flavio is passionate about his tours. He starts the tour with a coffee. breakfast stop We are coffee lovers so yes, we appreciated this. He also brought us large 12" sandwiches for breakfast. We tried to tell him that we would split if but he told us to get one each. . He made sure we had enough to eat and drink the whole day (16 hours first day). Since there were 4 of us in the van, we were all able to stretch out . Thanks to Carol for suggesting that we bring pillows.

Flavio introduced us to Enrique, our guide. He is a wealth of knowledge and made us appreciate the history, the culture and understand that we are witnesses to the mathematical genius of the Mayans. For Enrique, it is not just a job but it is sharing part of who he is. Flavio, as promised was our "paparazzi" during the tour. We turned a few heads with people wondering who we were.
Enrique took us to the back to the van. Flavio had mangoes and a local "honey granola type cake" waitng for us, and he showed up shortly with gifts of personalized Mayan calendars.

Ek Balam: We met Jose, also a Mayan tour guide. He was familiar with Enrique, so he made sure to share details with us that were unique to Ek Balam. Both tour guides spoke flawless English and were very knowledgeable. Flavio took us to the top of Ek Balam, and made sure we got back down safely. The only thing Flavio could not deliver on was an elevator going back down. :-), Flavio gave us another little surprise with a figurine of Ek Balam.

We headed to a buffet and then to the Cenote. Cenote was close to closing, which we were fine with our short time there. We had the place to ourselves by the time we left.
Villadolid is an old Spanish influenced town, we went to the Plaza and my family walked around, watched a local festival and got some local delicacies like ice cream , elote and marquesitas.

For out next trip, we headed to Punta Sam and took a private boat for our snorkeling tour. Capitan Oritis, (?) and Gabriel were our crew. They pulled up to several snorkeling areas that were beautiful but they made sure to avoid the other tour groups. I had mentioned MUSA prior to Flavio. He said it was better for scuba diving but he surprised us with a stop there, even though it was outside the plan.

I didn't realize how much better having a small group was until we got to MUSA. A larger group dropped off their guests and it was an exercise to avoid flippers and bodies as they were in a hurry. They didn't stay long and left before we did.
We went to another site after a buffet lunch. It was the best snorkeling spot. When Flavio said he was saving the best for last, I wasn't sure but it was a once in a lifetime experience of underwater beauty by a sunken boat.

Flavio took hundreds of pics for us, There were also tons of videos, including go pro underwater videos that he provided us with no extra charge. I am still sifting though them, appreciating how blessed we are to have met Flavio and gone on tours with him.

I'm sure I missed so many little details that made our trips so memorable.

Although doing a more private tour cost more than a big shared bus, it was well worth it! First of all, as we were e-mailing back and forth during the booking, Carol answered all of our questions with a lot of details and suggestions based on what "we wanted" our schedule to be. So, there's way more flexibility versus a "canned" big bus tour.

We (2 adults and 3 teenagers) did Chichen Itza and Cenote one day and then Tulum/Cenote/Snorkeling the next. Both days involved a lot of driving of course. But it was much better to be in our own private van. Flavio was a great driver/host. He made sure we were all comfortable in his air conditioned van. There was plenty of room for us 5 - lots of water, sodas, juices, snacks etc. He planned a couple of bathrooms stops along the way. And I'm sure if we had an unplanned bathroom emergency, he could have easily stopped and found something for us. In fact, we mentioned that we'd really like to have coconut water and fresh mangos when we got back to the hotel, and Flavio took a quick detour down a couple roads and found us a fresh fruit stand ! We didn't mean for him to hear us and divert the van, but he sincerely wants to take the best care of his customers.

Flavio and Carol both speak very good English so no issues with language. All of the entry fees, lunch, and other misc expenses were covered in the price of each ticket. He used professional guides at Chichen Itza and Tulum which again was included in the ticket already. Flavio knows a lot of the history himself, but it was nice to have both Flavio and the guide together.

This last part is priceless. Flavio is a great photographer. Everywhere we went, he took tons of pictures with his camera for us. and if we wanted to use our phones, he would take them for us. Sometimes, it's hard in a crowd to tell other tourists to clear out so you can take a group pic of the family. But, Flavio is great, he just yells out, "Family ! stand right here for pictures" and because he looks like a professional photographer that we hired, all of the tourists would respect Flavio and move out of the way. We have so many pictures of the beautiful Mayan structures with nobody in the background! I suggest bringing a large portable drive. I brought a 128G drive and still had plenty of room on it. Flavio took at least 150+ pics and videos each day for us and loaded them on the portable drive before he dropped us off.

From the minute Flavio picked us up at 6am each morning until the minute he dropped us off, we were in good hands the entire day. We felt safe, comfortable, and had absolutely zero stress knowing that Carol and Flavio were taking care of us.

Flavio took us to Chichen Itza and Ek Balam in one day. This was a very long day but worth every minute. The price included professional guides at both sites, snacks, drinks, an absolutely delicious lunch, and all of the photos you would want taken for you and copied to a flash drive (bring your own). Flavio is down to earth, kind, knowledgeable, and just a genuinely fun person to be around. Both of these sites were incredible in different ways and deserved more time than we had to see them, but I'm thrilled we were able to visit both on our trip to Cancun. Ek Balam is less well known, but I cannot recommend it enough for the setting, smaller crowds, and ability to actually climb atop the pyramid. I highly recommend Flavio's Tours - everything was exactly as advertised and the trip lived up to all of the positive reviews.
