After 10 years of diving in Cozumel, this was the first year we dove this site. I can't believe what we were missing. At the beginning of the dive, there is a ship wreck, followed by a beautiful reef. Definitely a must-do when diving,

March 12, 2004Arrived San Miguel in Cozumel on Friday March 12, 2004, via Carnival Conquest. Packed snorkel gear, went to taxi stand at pier side. Well organized. Cab for $10 for 4 people, posted price, No wait. Traveled via the new road to the national park Chankanab to spend the day. Park is well maintained. Nice shady gardens, good small museum. Had Mexican plate for lunch. Interesting flavors. skipped the lettuce and the ice in the drinks. Nice eating area/restaurant. Comfortable plastic beach chairs. Changing room. lockers. Volley ball, minigolf and decent snorkling. No hassling. great water, Admission fee $12.00 US / person. Nice palm trees to lie under. A nice restful day. Hair braiding available but too expensive in comparison with what is available elsewhere. No problem getting cab back to town. Same rate. My wife andI in seventies. Grandaughters 11 and 12. All enjoyed. Dolphin swimming and snubing available.

Chankanab was wonderful. Anyone visiting Cozumel, Mexico should go to Chankanab. We swam with dolphins Picaso and Azteca they were wonderful. We bought the video of us and we also bought pictures. It was something you would never want to miss. It was the opportunity of a lifetime. After that we ate at the resturant/bar they had there. The food was great and pure mexican! A couple of men in Mexicon hats and clothing came up to us while we were eating and played little guitars and sssang, This was truly paradise. Then we went snorkaling and saw beautiful fish big and small colorful and dul. We saw coral that was more beautiful then you could believe. Chankanab was beautiful and very clean. When you go to cozumel be sure you go to Chankanab!

The park is ok, obviously built thinking it would be more popular then it is. We booked a VIP package with a swim with dolphins and manatee. That was a unique and nice experience. However it is not disclosed that you can NOT take any photos yourself, and there picture is $200 US Dollars!!!!!!! After I paid near $500 dollars to get in!!!!!! Stay away, tourist trap of the worst kind.

Chankanab was a remarkable place to spend the day. The beach looks like something off of a post card. Snorkeling was a blast and relaxing under our own little hut was fabulous. I highly recommend spending some time here if you plan on visiting Cozumel.

We have been to Chankanab several times. It is an incredible place to snorkle and dive. The water is crystal clear and teeming with fish.

We rented a volkswagon bug from the Smart Car rental and drove straight to Chankanaab Reef. Getting there was easy as the roads were very easy to follow. The park is a straight easy run that can't be missed. Entry fee was $25.00 per person and that included the braclet to snorkel in the lagoons, use the pool, and the beach. We did have our own snorkels otherwise the price went up by $15.00 ea. However, make sure you bring a vest for smaller children, the water over the reef is 70 feet deep. It is crystal clear and a beautiful view straight down over the reef. There were so many different kinds of fish and so colorful. There is also a small shallow beach inlet for smaller children with no current and a pool about 4 feet deep. My kids did the swim with the sea lions for $49.00 each. What a great deal! This included their park entrance fee too. The sea lions were not as popular as the dolphin and their was only 1 other couple in our group. This was great because the kids actually got to interact the entire hour with the sea lion. The only problem was that the video cost $50.00 and each still picture is $15.00. We spent $95.00 on 1 DVD and 3 photos. I suggest one of the parents stand behind the photographer and take extra pictures. I tried to get pictures from the viewing platform, but the trainer always put the childrens backs to us. Definitly be aggressive and take your photos from behind the photographer, best viewing spot. The restaurant burgers were strange, but the food was not to badly over priced. The only problem was the platters were small and not very filling. I would definitly recommend this park. It is small and there is not a whole lot to do, but the snorkeling for that price is as good as the $130.00 pp we have paid to catamaran out to the reefs.

good family atmosphere, beautiful water ,palm forest beside water , good facilities, waiters. didn't try the food, swim with dolphins (extra cost ,long lines) natural lagoon w/ deep reefs and fish , thick rainforest and alot of iguanas for a $ 10 entry fee kids under 10 free. lots of cabs, gift shop, huge palapa entrance with a coral waterfall.very exotic currents made water access tough , my kids had no problem, small shallow cove for kids to swim in, reef much smaller than the Plancar and Columbia but very well preserved and shallow, many many fish !

From the Cozumel Ferry Dock the taxi is 120 Pesos ($10.00), the park admission fee is $21.00 for adults and kids is cheaper fee. The park has numerous restaurants and bars...I checked the menu items / prices at the restaurants and settled on a taco plate with draft beer for 132 Pesos at the Cafe across from the Dolphin exibit. The other restaurants the same menu item with beer is around 220 Pesos. I rented a locker for $5.00 at the large thatched roof outdoor restaurant near the guardrail entry point into ocean. I used the bathroom to change into my snorkeling wetsuit. The snorkeling is Amazing...I saw brain corral, fan corral, sea urchins, a barracuda under the floating pier, bright trigger fish, a huge 6 foot long Grouper in a large open hole cavern. The water is crystal clear. I even swam just outside the wire fence dolphin enclosure and saw the dolphins underwater being fed and trained by the trainer...I was only a couple feet away from the dolphins and watched for about 15 minutes until the trainer shoo'd me away. The dolphins were looking at me like "What are you doing here?". Please do not snorkel out this far into the ocean unless you are wearing a bouyant wet suit and float vest like I was...it only takes a one leg cramp for you to drown. The best part about this park is no VENDORS bugging you. The park closes at 5pm and there are taxis to take you back to the ferry for 120 Pesos.

The Dolphin experience was lacking at best, they herded us around like cattle for 90 minutes before they allowed us into the water, cameras were forbidden, and we found out why.... they tried to charge us $37.00 per photo (that's right) or $150.00 for a disk of SELECTED pics.... talk about robbery. Seeing as we paid $140.00 per person to do this attraction, you can see why we were so ticked at the absurd photo prices. DO NOT give these people your hard earned money!
