Ferry trip
Nov. 2016 • Couples
My husband and I were staying in Playa del Carmen and from our hotel we could see the ferries going regularly across to Cozumel so decided to go one afternoon. The ferry terminal is just off the start of 5th Avenue in Playa del Carmen and takes about 20 minutes for the journey. Once in Cozumel the ferry port is close to many shops and restaurants along the waterfront. You can usually see many cruise liners also in port - the Disney ship was there the day we went.
It was a pleasant way to spend an afternoon away from the hotel.

Vacation
Mar. 2016 • Couples
We rented a car for cozumel. When we arrived, the car we paid for was not available. They asked for 10.00 more for a different car. We said no and asked for our money back. Instead, we were asked to wait and a car would be available in 10 minutes. A car was delivered to us with the keys in the ignition and running. Rusted inside, wires all over the floor. No mats. No wiperd. No mirrors. No licence plates. We took the rumbling rusted car as we wanted to start touring Cozumel. We stopped foe lunch. When we returned to the car, it would not start. Security officers at the restaurant helped us push it to start it up. No luck. We called and another rusted old car was delivered to us. We took it back and left cozumel. A vacation day ruined by this rental car business. They are trying to make money with old, run down cars and don't care about SAFETY AND CUSTOMERS.

Cozumel has decided Divers are not important
Oct. 2015 • Friends
The Scuba Diving community has built the hotels in Cozumel. The Island now has two industries Hotel/Resorts and Cruise Ship terminals. The Cruise Ships bring large crowds of tourists to the main street in Cozumel but the hotels employ the island service community and the diving community is the largest customer for the Hotel/Resort business.
In what appears to be a greedy move the hotels and other community leaders have attempted to bring more tourists to the Island and in this endeavor they have abandoned the Scuba Diving customers who have built their business.
Today was a repeated example of what the Island has become. They hosted a Triathlon, which required a swimming portion. To do this the port was closed to divers, which left us with nothing to do for the day and as a result wasted 17% of a typical divers investment in the diving vacation. The Island has a large waterfront presents and there was no need to close the port and require the diving community to sit out the day.
When I compare diving travel costs from now on all I need to do is add 17% to the cost of a Cozumel trip, which will allow for a wasted day in Cozumel and if the vacation in Grand Cayman or the Bahamas is less expensive then Cozumel will go to the bottom of my list.
I am sorry but I will miss you Cozumel.

scuba gear stolen
Mar. 2014 • Solo
I've been to Cozumel regularly for diving for the past 20 years and always loved it. But on my last trip, my scuba gear was stolen out of my dive masters secure vehicle at a supermarket by local child thugs. Much of Cozumel is turning downward into a deeper slum and the result is crime-ridden back nieghborhoods with a lot of vehicular break-in's. So I recommend that you do not visit Cozumel. But if you do, expect your life, possessions and gear to be at risk. Many of the local Mexicans are helpful and friendly. But many others are not and will steal what ever they ever can when you have a moments inattention and sadly the Cozumel Mexican parents do not have the simple grace to instruct their children not to steal. It makes me sad and sick.

Sep. 2011
Cozumel island is wonderful island and we have enjoyed it very much. Me and my fried played surfing, snorkel, hike and biking around beach area. The most interesting moment was for us that scuba diving. I will say this place is more safety then other places. all of five friend were well experience on scuba diving but i have less experience. I am feel more safety on scuba diving here. we also planned again to revisit this beautiful island.
