Almost all beaches in Cozumel Atlantic side are semi deserted as they are beautiful but dangerous to swim. Chen Rio is the exception because there are some spots in the two sides of the peninsula where it is a bit sheltered and even children can...More

The best beach with safe secluded swimming. The views are great from the rocks above the beach too. We did this one as a part of our scooter loop around the island and it was worth stopping for couple of hours. Wonderful!

Absolutely beautiful beaches, with places to lay out and sit to relax. The water was crystal clear and perfect for swimming. Short drive from the Port, but worth it. Taxis are always around and the fares aren't bad. It's a public beach, but not many...More

This beach on the east side of the island is a lovely spot to get away from the vendors and bustle of incoming cruise ships. The currents on this side of the island are dangerous and not swimmable, but Chen Rio offers a semi-protected area...More

Great beach away from most of the tourists. It does have some good restaurants around this area and some shelter. The waves are stronger than the west end beaches so not suitable for small children.

Finding places to swim in Cozumel that aren't rocky can be tough but the Chen Rio beaches are awesome! They're sort of protected by a rock wall so the waves are blocked, leaving a beautiful little lagoon to swim in. We had a few beers...More

Chen Rio's beach is protected by a rock formation, which makes for a sizeable tide pool where even kids can swim. There is a restaurant there as well, if you need restrooms, snack, drink, etc. If you're not going to use the restaurant, park down...More

We stopped at Chen Rio while touring the East side. The waves were spectacular. This beach is not ideal for swimming but it is very safe for kids to play in the natural wading pools.

We stopped here for lunch one day while on the East side of the island. Great beach and view. Food was good, would go back.

Yep -it's a public beach, so open every day. Others are correct, though, there is no electricity on that side of the island, so the few restaurants and bars over there close at sundown.
