The beach setting was the most beautiful we experienced on the island, the service was great and we enjoyed some tasty Mexican delights, watched over by their pet racoon.

We arrived here having cycled 20km from our hotel, then unexpectedly another 8km from the entrance to the nature reserve to the nearest restaurant - but it was definitely worth the effort.

Maybe next time, we’ll make sure we have enough cash in advance. They do take VISA but the waiter had to climb up a lifeguards watch tower waving the credit card machine to try and get a WiFi connection. It took some time for the transaction to go through, long enough for us to worry about having to wash up - but it all worked out in the end and always in good humour.

My wife and I, along with another couple stopped here for lunch and a beach visit. Lunch was very good and the beer was cold. Staff was very pleasant. After, we headed to the beach to relax, read a bit, snorkel and enjoy this lovely area. Unfortunately, the head pounding music being played from the bar/ restaurant completely destroyed our enjoyment. A nice, soft beat would have been appreciated, but electronic, drum beating rave music was highly inappropriate. We asked if the volume could be reduced and it was for a period. But,then it was turned up again. Instead of ordering more food and beer we decided to leave.

Our taxi driver recommended Papito's while we were visiting Punta Sur on a day trip from our resort. The beach was almost empty and the water was gorgeous. The server came right out to our umbrella and beach chairs to take our order and bring our food. He also pointed out several good areas for snorkeling and there was a beautiful reef about 100 yards right off the beach. The swimming area was roped off with buoys so it was safe to avoid boats, etc. (Not that we saw many!) We did see a giant sting ray and plenty of fish, including a 4 foot Lemon shark that swam very close to shore. This was one of our favorite day trips and Papito's definitely added to that!

If you're looking for a 'get away' from the crowded beach spots at Cozumel, Go to Punta Sur Eco Park and Spend the day at Papito's. They have snorkeling, diving, kayaking, paddle-boarding, beach chair & umbrellas, hammocks, massage, shell collecting, swimming, dining & more ! The staff is incredible...so friendly, accommodating, & speaks excellent English ! The food and drinks were great and very reasonable and the facilities were clean and spacious. Lounge in the sand, take a stroll, dive the reef with the friendliest fish in all of Mexico :)

We went to Papito's for the day while our cruise ship was in Cozumel, one of 7 in port that day. We didn't want the craziness of those 20,000 people plus everyone else already vacationing on the island, so the 50-person limit at Papito's sounded right up our alley.

I've included a photo of the taxi fare board from the cruise terminal as, prior to our trip, I was unable to get a clear idea of how much it would cost to get there. We did the all-inclusive package at Papito's, which didn't include transportation, but Papito's was willing to provide a cab for an additional $100. As you can see from the photo, a cab for up to 4 people to Punta Sur (where Papito's is located) is only $70, round trip. Our cab driver asked what time we wanted to be picked up, and when we were packing up a half hour prior, he was already there, but I can't say whether he waited there all day or came back for us. Either way, it was easy to arrange our own transportation, and not as expensive as I'd anticipated. It's about 30 minutes from the port to Papito's - and the same going back.

We were the first people to get to Papito's, after stopping to pay about 10 minutes from the destination, where we were given wristbands. The view in the park as you approach Papito's is breath-taking - I wish I'd asked the driver to stop and let me get a photo as the lighthouse came into view, because the sun was in a different position that afternoon as we left, and you couldn't see the vivid blue and green of the water.

The beach at Papito's was lovely - white sand, clear water with grass on the bottom in spots, and lots of privacy. No vendors hawking their wares, and only one other "club" visible, though it wasn't at all overlapping, although a large group of snorkelers did show up in the water in front of the Papito's facility from somewhere.

Drinks are served in huge glasses, with beer and water in bottles and sodas in cans. Waiters serve you wherever you sit on the beach, or you can sit in the restaurant/bar area as well. Although we were on the all-inclusive package and therefore could eat and drink for free from that menu, I paid extra for their "Papito's Shrimp" and would go back just for that meal! Delicious!

I have no way of knowing what the "norm" is, but on the day we were there, there were more than 50 people by lunchtime - I counted. At least 70, but less than 100. Granted, there were a lot of ships in port that day and ANY beach would have been crowded, so this one was probably less crowded than most, but it was a little close for comfort by early afternoon. The beach chairs are placed in rows, and while you could probably move them, we didn't, so we were very close to our neighbors. It would have been great if there had been separate smoking and non-smoking sections.

We chose not to snorkel, but others were thrilled with their swims - a giant sea star was the most-talked about find. We enjoyed taking kayaks out, and relaxing in the hammocks.

The toilets had no seats, which frightened off some women, and the bathrooms were dark, particularly when coming in from the bright sunshine. Hair-braiding and massages were available, as well as lockers, although we felt comfortable leaving our things (including cameras) on our chairs, as the wait staff was very attentive.

I will begin with the good aspects of Papito's Beach Club because it's a shorter list. The staff was very helpful and efficient. The beach and restrooms were clean. The food was good.

Unfortunately, these positives were overshadowed by the management's lack of professionalism. Upon our arrival at the gate to the national park, we were forced to wait 45 minutes for a staff member from Papito's to confirm that we actually had a reservation. While Papito's boasts that it is located inside the national park, they do not have a good system for communication or ticketing with the park. Moreover, being inside the national park does not really provide any benefit to the visitors. You're surrounded by inaccessible jungle. Once we arrived at the very small beach club, no one had any idea how to access our reservations or how to charge us. In fact, twice I was asked by "bosses" what the admission price was listed in the website. Our all inclusive day seemed to cause tremendous confusion. We had to haggle to get snorkeling included and none of the optional national park excursions were available. At the end of the day, I paid full price for my child, and my credit card was run twice because they weren't sure how to process it.
The wait staff was great, but the bosses were clueless! The whole place had a flying-by-the-seat-of their-pants vibe. I'll spend my pesos elsewhere next time!

Papito’s Beach Club, located in Celarain (aka Punta Sur)parque, is about 2 miles past the lighthouse on the same road as the lighthouse. We own a home on the island and Papito's has been generating a bit of a "buzz" recently so we wanted to see for ourselves what this was all about. While we don't live on the island full time, we always get a bit jaded when people use the words, "the best" to describe places we consider to be just average.

We visited Papito's on 4/15 and was pleasantly surprised how nice it was. The sand is white & soft and there are no rocks to stub your feet on. There are swim platforms you can lay on in the water. The beach extends for miles for those that want to walk simply walk a nice beach and enjoy the solitude. It is elegant in its simplicity.

A covered, full service restaurant provides great meals (the guacamole was some of the best we had ever had) and you can also rent snorkel equipment, SUP’s and get a massage.

Credit cards are accepted and the exchange rate was just a fraction lower (15:1) than the bank rate of 15.4:1-something that is rare for beach bars. This was a big deal to us as we see a lot of beach bars offer low exchange rates and take advantage the tourists who don't pay in local currency.

There is soft music in the covered palapa restaurant, but once you are 50' away all you hear is the sound of the water lapping the shore. AND, what you don't hear are jet skis, parasailers, boat motors and screaming DJ's. There are also none of the big toy floats in the water. That's a big plus for us.

My wife got a massage. They offer 6 types of massages and the amount of time is based on what you pay. She got the therapeutic massage and said it was one of the best she's had. And she could pay by credit card. (Please tip in cash though!).

I just vegged on the chaise lounge and had a few adult beverages. Service was attentive and the waiters weren't pushy.

Inasmuch as Papito's is in the parque, you do need to pay the parque admission fee, so make this an all day visit. See the crocodile lagoon, climb the lighthouse, explore and take some pictures in the AM. Then spend the rest of the day at Papito's. They close at 4PM so this is a lot earlier than most beach bar places that are open until around sunset.

The bathrooms are clean and they offer freshwater showers.

I'm babbling, but I can see what the buzz is about for this place. We were pleasantly surprised and we aren't easily impressed.

Located inside Beautiful Punta Sur Eco Park ($12 entry fee) Papito's Beach Club and Restaurant is a not so hidden gem as you could see on other reviews. Imagine this: Your own secluded beach where you could have the most relaxing day just laying on the most comfortable chairs and sipping delicious (and quite strong) margaritas delivered by the most attentive server, Monkey while you sit under the umbrellas. adventure out into a pretty outstanding Chunchacab shallow reef where you could snorkel or just play around on the pristine white sandy beach. Then is LUNCH time, Papito's restaurant has a very extensive menu, the freshest seafood and the tastiest Mexican food I had in a long time. Great services and the owner Papito loves to stop by and know how to make you feel welcome.Finish your day with a massage at the beach, Shower or just change your clothes on their very clean facilities. Will definitely come back again next time I visit, I suggest you give a try, you won't be disappointed.

I've done several beach excursions while on cruises and this was far and away the best. I enjoyed every second of my time there and hated to leave. Considering how many cruise ships were in port the day we were there this place was very, very quiet. There isn't anything flashy at this place, there aren't any waterslides or anything like that, which was exactly what I wanted. The staff were very attentive, the drinks were good and the food taste awesome. Getting pick up outside the cruise terminal was great as well. I just wish I'd had more time to explore the park a little, but I guess that just means I'll have to go back again! If you're on a cruise this is the place to spend your day

We were the first guests at this place last week. We had our own waiter and the staff was very accommodating and friendly. We had lounge chairs under a shade umbrella as well as plenty of deck chairs around. There was a large raft anchored out in the beautiful blue water. From there we saw bar fish which would run into us, checking us out. We saw a ray from a distance. Even though we didn't snorkel, there were many others out at the reef. The water looked like a pool . . . but better!

We enjoyed the yard-long adult beverages as well as the appetizers, chips and pico and nachos, which were yummy. Our choice of entrees was the grilled fish which was also excellent.

The only downside was the restroom which is in disrepair. There were hammocks available as well as massages. We enjoyed sitting by the water and enjoying the beautiful scenery.

The taxi service is pricey as you go all the way to the south end of the island and then back around on a park road (bumpy) to the beach club. Expect to pay between $70-90 to get there and back to town.

We would go back . . .
