This is a good fun but the CONSTANT bothering from people trying to sell you things (merchandise or drugs) is very overwhelming and puts you on edge a little

El Centro is located right off of the Ultramar Ferry dock. It's a busy tourist shopping destination with locals trying to sell their wares. It is a fun and safe place to wander and practice your negotiation skills should you decide to buy anything. There...More

Great spot to grab a drink and wander through the vendors. Spend an hour or spend 5, there are a lot of shops and vendors to check out. Lots of food and beverage options around. Fun and easy, walk or sit and relax.

If you stay on Isla you will have to go to the centro for banks, tours, etc. I hate over-touristy places though and couldn't stand the place. It has been ruined by over-development and pushy salespeople from souvenir shops and restaurants.

Most likely if you visit Isla Mujeres, you will arrive by ferry, and as soon as you step outside the Ultramar building, you are in El Centro, and you can find just about anything, from sun screen, sunglasses, hats and souvenirs.

El centro is the downtown area. There are golf cart rentals, shops, and restaurants. The area is very safe to walk around, even at night, and the vendors are not too pushy. If you say no, they back off. It's even nice for an evening...More

Cool to walk around and stop in the shop, good restaurants and bars, The prices are pretty good on the island compared to Cancun. Just a real chill vibe on the island to enjoy.

There is a shop right at the zocala across from the malecon. You can't miss it, as it is purple! They have a fabulous reputation.

Yes lots. It's really grown in the last 5 years so you will be in for a shock how much it has grown. Both good and bad. Probably over 50 restaurants/ vendors on el Centro. There is a small shack on the corner that says... More
