Drove ourselves from Merida to Celestun, easy but not very interesting drive which took about 80minutes. Went on a 300MXN boat trip to see flamingos (end of October) and there were about 100 in mid-morning. Its not a guided tour; our boat driver was completely...More

Bus from Merida/ Celestun was 60MXN. Boat to the flamingos from the beach 300MXN/ person. Beautiful beaches with less people compared to Progreso. Not many options for food. Better to bring your snacks and water with you.

Small city on Yucatán known well for mangroves and flamingos. You can buy a riverboat trip on Rio Celestún to observe the flamingos and other birds nesting along the river. Also you can swim in the sea on almost empty beaches.

Beautiful beach, great restaurants, friendly people and tours to see 500-5000 flamingos. I first came here 18 years ago with my daughter and now finally returning with my grandsons.

I was there in June. I was told that sometimes in the summer there are no flamingos but we were lucky to see a lot of them. If I understand correctly, there's a LOT more in the winter but I still saw hundreds of them....More
