Friendly people

They were very helpful in getting me a map. They also arranged tours, if desired. It is off the main plaza.

The tourism office on Plaza Grande offers a free city tour each morning at 9:30. It was informative and gave an excellent overview of the historic area.

Excellent staff who are really friendly and they run a free tour, paid for by the government, that takes you around the main square. It's really informative and our guide's English was very good. 100% worth your time. Leaves at 9.30am everyday. Arrive 5 mins early so you can sign in in the office.

I prefer the Merida City Tourism Offices over the State Tourism offices catercorner across the Man Square. They have always been helpful in both English and Spanish, Knowledgeable about the bus routes and what is going on in town. I go to them for advise almost daily when in town.

If you can fit this in your schedule it was good. The guide was very energetic and informative. It's not much walking - just around the square.

There was an excellent free tour around the central area which was very informative and good fun. Well worth it. It will take around 1.5 hours

I've stopped by and asked for help here many, many times. The staff has gone out of their way to give good advice and/or help me find places. It's in the doorway to the Palace of the Governor on the left as your enter. It's also air conditioned. The more help you need...the cooler you get!

First our walking tour guide, Geraldo, was fantastic. Humorous. Spoke excellent English. And very, very knowledgeable. You sign up at the Palacio Municipal just off the main plaza. No charge. But tips upon completion of the tour are appreciated. We toured the Palacio Municipal. Its lower level used to be a slaughterhouse since the bullring occupied the main plaza. Later... More
