Brent Marsh and his assistant gave us a wonderful tour! He explained the lovely history of Merida, and home construction. Then, they led us to four homes, and guided us carefully through the streets. This is such a wonderful way to see this city, and the lovely homes which have been remodeled. Their choices of homes let you see a... More

Went by this AM just to snoop around and found a wonderful library in a converted home. The volunteers were very friendly and helpful, taking the time to speak to us about the library and living in Merida. Not just for those who live here but a nice visit for tourists also, see what they have accomplished with volunteer power... More

The MEL home and garden tour is an excellent opportunity to find out first hand the mysteries hidden behind the facades of those beautifully painted homes. A great resource of people to help answer those curious questions about all the fuss prompting Americans, Canadians, etc to come take a look see in the most intriguing hidden city in Mexico. I... My husband & I were very keen to take the house & garden tour to see what lay behind the mysterious walls of the houses in Merida. We got to the English Library a bit early for the start time. People kept pouring into the garden behind the library. There were at least 70 people that showed up for the... More

We did the house and garden tours several times and truly enjoyed seeing the wonderful homes behind the doors. It is a must to see when in Merida.

Yesterday I attended my first house tour from the Merida English Library (MEL). It began with an informative short lecture about the history of art and architecture in Merida with free scones and coffee in their lovely terrace. We then divided in 2 groups and hit the streets. I'm told each week, there are visits to different houses so this... More

I will probably attend at least one more House Tour before leaving Merida in six weeks. It is fascinating to enter a place that looks completely insignificant from the street, and see the wonderful things that people have done with the property. Of course, I am a house nut, and if you are too, you will love this tour. January... More

Having never been to Merida before, I found this tour very inviting and informative. I had a sense of peace and inspiration just sitting in the courtyard waiting for the tour to start while enjoying hot coffee and homemade scones. Brent, our friendly tour guide explained some of this history and architecture of homes in Merida and then we left... More

Something not o be missed. Whether you are just here for a week or three months, it something you should do at least once. If you are fortunate to be here awhile the tour is different every week. I wanted to do this when I was here last year but didn't get round to it now I will be back... More

I expected that this would be a tour of renovated houses with stories of how they did it, but actually all the houses on the tour are for sale, so it's more like something a RE agent would do (for free). This is not the only House & Garden Tour in Merida.
