I was surprised when both my boys voted for this excursion but they were right it is spectacular. Our guide Gonzo was tremendous; excited about the subject and very knowledgeable. He made our tour wonderful fun and we all learned so much. It was great to explore and experience as a family. The pictures are spectacular. I didn't have cash... More

Under ground cavern to walk and swim, very delicate environment, hope is not destroyed soon due to abuse, lunch is mediocre, guides are very good. If you can bring your own water shoes bring them, what they have are all stretched with very poor traction. Water is cool at about 68F. Overall very unique experience. No photos in the caverns.

I've been to five, and while I know there are hundreds, this one is the most visually impressive I've seen by far.

The week we were in Cancun there was a lot of rain and found Rio Secreto on a list of rainy day activities. So happy I found it! Rio Secreto is a small, eco friendly operation outside of Cancun. Groups go into the cave with a tour guide who narrates the adventure. The cave is only lit by the guide's... More

Really really enjoyed this excursion! It was incredibly beautiful and very interesting. We learned a lot. A couple of things I wish we had know prior to going: 1. No cameras/gopros are allowed in. There is a photographer that goes with the group and you are given the option to purchase the photos after the tour is finished. $25 usd... More

Our experience in the Rio Secreto was one of the highlights of our trip to the Yucatan. Our guide was excellent and knowledgeable about the underwater system of rivers and caverns, and guided us through a two hour excursion. They provided wetsuits, helmets, lights, water shoes, and life vests. Against the backdrop of fake looking 'natural' parks in the area...... More

Great excursion. Educational and fun. Would do it again, just a different part. Apparently there are several km of caverns broken up into 5 routes. They provided wetsuits, water shoes, life jackets, and helmets with lamps. Hugo was our guide, did a great job.

Rio Secreto translates into the "Secret River", which is a huge underground river that runs through a series of underground caverns and caves. The adventure of Rio Secreto is embarking on a guided tour underground, exploring these caves as you wade through the river. Rio Secreto is situated off the 307 just 40-45 minutes from Tulum, technically in Playa Del... More

The caves are amazing. No electricity or modernization. You climb down on rocks and enter the cave. Your group is wearing lights on their helmets and that's how you see where you are going. The caves have not been destroyed by humans yet. Amazing.
