This is a great place is you want to shop in American stores, spend a lot of money on things that you can buy anywhere else in the States and in Canada, and see a lot of gringos and no locals. It's better at night (though it's VERY crowded) with all the terraces, the bars and the music.

Quinta Avenida has been the heart of tourism in Playa del Carmen since the beginning. Now it is a very crowded place where you are constantly accosted by vendors. I went only once to meet a friend.

Strolling around this street is a good way to feel a more local vibe than staying at the resort. We stayed at a resort walking distance from it so we just walked there. The food is good in some restaurants, do your research.

We went in the day and at night - night is so much more fun ! Plenty to watch and its lovely with everything lit up. It is very busy and yes you do get asked to go into every shop. Yes, you will get them saying they work at your hotel and were your waiter. This is purely because... More

Wow! I can't say enough about Quinta Avenue. It is an extended tiled pedestrian street of high end stores to touristy shops and everything in between. You can find about anything on this amazing calle: wonderful restaurants, nightclubs, bars, stores, and even pharmacies. Next to the gorgeous beaches at Playa del Carmen, this is the second top reason to visit... More

Our last visit was 8 years ago and my have things changed on 5th. I hate to use the word gentrified but that is the best way to describe it...a lot of the authenticity stills exists but it is tucked between Starbucks, Victoria Secret and many other mainstream retail. The other side of 5th which was also new for us... More

Little hard to find a parking place, best to go to the parking lot of WalMart and either walk the 15 minute walk or take a cab. Fun to walk up and down, tons of great restaurants, gift shops and just watching people. The place comes alive at night.

I'm a people / crowd guy and this is an awesome vibe. Between the shops and street performers it was amazing just being there. Grabbed my dos Equis and walked around for a long stroll
