The Muizenberg catwalk takes you from the Muizies bathing huts through Dangers and all the way to Kalk Bay. It's a lovely walk, especially if you stop at the rock pools at low tide. You can look for starfish. Look, don't touch. Only do this walk on weekends and at peak hours as it's prone to muggers. The law enforcement team takes residents for a safe daily walk on the catwalk, so check in with their officers about times.

As I was living in the area when I was on holiday this became a daily walk with the family and the odd run for exercise. It felt safe at all times of the day and the other people enjoying the fresh air were very friendly. At times there were fishermen, although I never saw anyone catch anything. Its perhaps a bit short to make it a special destination, but if you are in the area definitely worth doing.

If one is looking for a safe walk with hand rails, take a walk on the alternate path which along the road. If on the other hand you are looking for an outdoor walk along the breaking waves, then this catwalk is what you are looking for. It’s obvious that the pathway had better days. Be prepared to get wet if the tide is in. Amazing that this seems to have built decades ago. This catwalk and road pavement have numerous points where one can opt for the other road. Choose a time where there are others walking as well

This is a fantastic walk, but muggers at Sunrise Beach and from St James on have been operating for years. They don't just steal: they stab and injure, so stick between Sunrise and St James at busy hours between 10:00 and 15:00, or check in at the Law Enforcement offices to find out their patrol times. They walk the catwalk at sunrise and invite the public to join for a safe walk.

Most beautiful sunrise ,every Sunday a different experience The best time to enjoy this walk is just before sunrise as everything starts to wake up. Please don’t walk alone, always have company as there has been reports of muggings.

Walking from muizemberg to Saint James gives you alot of historical context and you have the added advantage of seeing the beauty of the coastline at a leisurly pace. There are historical boards along the way that fill you in on the history of the area.

The view from the catwalk is gorgeous, but it seems like a bit of TLC on the outskirt will be welcome

I'd have like to have walked the catwalk but we were warned off doing so unless we could accompany the police patrol. How sad - but like most things in Muizenberg it's seen better times or is not recommended.

My twenty one year old and my 17 year old and I did the walk from Kalk Bay to Muizenberg on Christmas day...
I REALLY would have preferred a traditional lunch bring hosted at a restaurant nearby. However, once I was walking I realized how privileged we are to have choices in life.
I took many more photographs...it is just that these three make the most sense now that I am reminded of that moment in time.
