Overview
More
Jinshanling Great Wall is located in Luanping County, Chengde, Hebei Province, 80 miles (130 kilometers) northeast of Beijing. It used to be a sound defensive system including barrier walls, battlement walls, watchtowers, gun emplacements, shooting holes, horse blocking walls, and branch cities. Today, it is renowned as the "Paradise of Photographers" and a popular tourist destination because of its magnificent appearance and intoxicating scenery.

We visited in oktober, a week after 'golden week' . Our guide advised us to walk from the east gate to the west gate. If you do this, you have the 'nasty' bit in the beginning of the walk and after a few hours on...More

This is one of the quietest sections of the Great Wall, and one of the more challenging in terms of uneven ground, limited retaining walls to the side, and some very steep bits along the way. The views are spectacular, and it's a huge bonus...More

We went in Feb and it was a bit chilli but there was literally no one there. Jinshanling is approximately 125km from Beijing or about 2 1/2 hours on the bus. The photos we got were of the wall only and not a heap of...More

It is a perfect place to stay away form crowds. Located about 80 miles/130km from Beijing (it means it is one of the farther sections). Anyway you won't regret. Views are amazing, you will walk between sharped mountains, enjoying the nature, with no human activity....More

I've been to The Great Wall before at Mutianyu, however, the group was there for only 90 minutes. That was completely inadequate for anything but taking a quick walkabout, shooting a few snaps, and buying souvenirs. This time, I wanted a more meaningful experience at...More

Not fully restored part of the wall, this means it isn't an easy trail. Lots of climbing and sometimes you need to jump out of a watchtower. It made it challenging in good way for me. I had a pick up from my hostel and...More

We've been to this section twice during the winter holiday and had it all to ourselves - except of few shop keepers at the entrance there were no more people visiting the place. It was a great experience - impressive section of the wall and...More

Hi It may be closed now. It was actually a while ago when we were there. If it is open it is well worth the effort.
