You need to time your visit so as not to coincide with the frequent services. The inside is quite dark, statues covered in actual clothes.

Parroquia has existed since the 16th century, but received its present facade in the 19th century. It is a unique interpretation of Neo-Gothic design by a local architect based on his review of postcards of European Gothic churches. The interplay of gray and pink stone and its multiple peaks give it a unique appearance that can be seen from all... More

The Parroquia is the center of San Miguel. You can sit across from the Parroquia and have a front seat to life in this wonderful city. This is the gathering place for everything. Gringos on the benches in the mornings, school kids in the afternoon and families in the evening. You can spend hours here watching life.

Beautiful by day, regal by night. Right in downtown. We went inside but there was a wedding going on and couldn't walk around inside. We saw a wedding with mariachis and a donkey that carries the tequila which they then served to all the guests right outside the church.

You would be excused if you thought you were in Europe when you stand in front of this impressive church. A marvel in the middle of this quaint town.

Sitting at a bench in the Plaza, the sun warming the late morning and with a good book is just the best. Then trying to read becomes a challenge when friends stop by for an interesting conversation. Even better.

What's not to love about this center of the town where everyone gathers to visit, gaze at the remarkable cathedral, people watch and participate in local festivities? Just wonderful!

This is the main church in SMA. It's a gothic designed front that was added to a 300 year old original. It has a very interesting history as it was designed by a local resident with no formal architectural training.

This cathedral is unusual and amazing. One can't be in San Miguel without going to this church, it is unique.

You'd be a fool to miss this whilst in San Miguel de Allende. You can go inside at certain times but its nice just to sit outside in the square too
