Hola y muy bienvenidos! As in all cultures, those born and raised in the society are the best source of knowledge about traditions. As a Mexican native, I inherited my Mexican cuisine knowledge from my previous generations. And my passion too! From my earliest years, I watched my mother, my aunts and grandparents in the kitchen, so I invite you to join me in tranquility to take our aprons and spoons, to use the very fresh ingredients of our Mexican Cuisine, and recreate together those delicious dishes. I love sharing my knowledge about one of the most varied and delicious cuisines in the world. I take pride in customizing my classes to suit the needs of all students -that don't have to stick to a fix classes program calendar- in my cozy kitchen with its antique Mexican molcajetes and metates. Just contact us to arrange your own hands-on class with a maximum of 4 students per class to insure individualized attention to each. Classes are from Monday to Friday, starting at 10:00 am. A special schedule can be arranged for private groups. A minimum number students apply for each class. We offer open custom classes for short stay students and professional intensive courses.

My mom and I attended a class with Marilau. I found her to be unfriendly and militant. Zero warmth. Did not introduce herself or even inquire as to our names once we arrived. The cooking instruction is good. But the class felt rushed. So different than all of our other SMA experiences. I would not return.

In a word, WOW! This was the most authentic, informative, enjoyable and scrumptious cooking experience ever! This is the real deal. No Americanization of Mexican foods. The dishes we prepared were selected from a long list of menu options all of which represent authentic ancestral cooking that reproduce original flavors and preparation. Two couples spent about three and one half... More

Not worth the money. Overpriced. She brought in a know it all third person in what was to be a couples class. There has got to be a better option in town.

I wanted to compare cooking classes in San Miguel de Allende so I took classes from two different schools on the same day. Marilau’s class was heads above the other. Marilau gives clear, hands-on, carefully-planned instruction that focuses on classic recipes and techniques that she learned as a little girl from her mother and grandmother. She obviously loves her country’s... More

What a wonderful experience. Marilau is not only an excellent teacher, but she has a real depth of knowledge about the traditional cooking of the various regions of Mexico. And her passionate interest and support and love of the transmission of tradition is evident in her teaching. I learned so much beyond just techniques, although I learned many techniques too.... We couldn't have had a better cooking class experience. We took the Intro to Salsa class. Marilau packs a lot into the class and we had hand-on experience preparing six different types of salsas. The room is comfortable and attention is paid to detail (like a mirror over the stove) so its easy for everyone to see what is going... More

Our family of 5 (parents plus 3 older teens aged 21 girl, 19 boy, 17 boy) considered this one of our absolute highlights during our visit. Marilau has dedicated the past 27 years to teaching cooking classes to visitors, and she does so with such a genuine passion for Mexican cuisine and its rich history that you are positively engaged... Marilau is a fine cooking teacher with a long history of wonderful cooks in her family. The cooking classes include traditional, authentic Mexican cuisine in a comfortable, warm setting. This is a hands on experience, working with local ingredients with time-honored recipes. As a former cooking teacher, I can vouch for the quality of the instruction and the product.
