Its been my childhood dream to see Great White sharks in the wild. Booked on the great white shark Guadalupe live aboard.
Mexican govt then permanently closes access to Guadalupe island, so no trip. Not the company's fault, just extraordinary circumstances. Absolutely devastated.
Offered a different trip in sea of cortez, which im sure would be great, but this is not great white sharks, they are the only thing I want to see. I paid for white sharks and the company can not offer me white sharks. I was simply sent 'read the terms and conditions' email and another email from Mike Lever, company Director, that was just a copy and paste job that said the same thing.
The company has refused to return my deposit and have now stopped communicating with me. There's a cost of living crisis going on and I can't afford to wave goodbye to so much money but they insist on keeping it. They clearly don't care.

I've wanted to go to Socorro for years and was finally go the change a few weeks ago. This trip was everything I wanted and more.

Everything about the experience was easy — checking in at the dive shop, getting luggage to our staterooms, embarking, accommodations, and disembarking (sad face) was all very smooth.

There are not enough good things I can say about the crew. Captain Beto was excellent — it's very clear that he's a man who makes safety a top priority for both the guests and the crew. But also has a great sense of humor and wants to ensure everyone is enjoying themselves to the fullest. The guides, Xavier, Juan David, Danny, Ellie and Ima were excellent and I loved having the chance to dive with each of them. Not sure how they do it, but they're able to see things out in the Blue that we can't see. Think they work a little bit of magic to make some of the encounters happen :)

In the five days of diving, I had incredible manta encounters on more than half the dives, saw hammerheads for the first time, saw tigers, silver tips and Galapagos sharks and had some really close interactions with dolphins.

The food was excellent and our two hostesses, Mariella and Fernanda, were able to accommodate any special requests that I made. The sweetest ladies and so hard working to help take care of the 30 divers.

All the deckhands, guides, engineers and overnight watchman were friendly, caring and an absolute delight to be around.

I loved every minute of my experience and can't wait to do another trip with the Nautilus crew.

I just spent the last 8 days diving Socorro with 24 close friends upon the Nautilus Explorer Liveaboard. Our adventures were as promised and more! Giant Manta Rays, close to a dozen species of sharks, dolphins and much more. Pascal Gospodínov and his divemasters were incredibly helpful all week. Not only to show us amazing sights and kept us safe. These are challenging dives, and well worth it.

Buyer beware!!!!! Be sure to read all the fine print and conditions carefully before putting down a deposit. Nautilus Liveaboards does not refund deposits in any circumstance, even if the trip you booked is cancelled and ultimately unavailable (45 months since deposit).

We are very proud of our straightforward booking terms and conditions. Short. Easy to read. Very clear. No need to read the fine print because there is no fine print. Terms and conditions of signing up for a liveaboard dive trip are virtually the same with every operator around the world. We pride ourselves on doing better than our competition by offering the option of fully refundable deposits at a slightly higher cost as well an excellent trip interruption travel insurance program. 100% for sure, if we can resell your berth subject to our terms and conditions, we will offer a refund or credit as your choice.

My husband and I booked the Nautilus Explorer going to Socorro for December 2023 and were very excited to be on the boat. We have been on liveaboards with other companies, including multiple Aggressors and the Truk Odyssey. This dive boat was a legend in the Pacific Northwest where we live and we were excited to be on your boat.
Our experiences were horrible, unprofessional and members of the crew were outright rude. We feel you should know what is going on with your boat and why we will NOT be booking another liveaboard with your company.
1. I felt bullied. I felt bullied into doing a blog (i.e. being verbally pressured by staff into writing a blog, having a computer basically set right in front of me while I was trying to just enjoy the evening). I felt bullied into submitting videos for a group slide show (i.e. persistent reminding “turn in videos”, “we don’t have enough videos”, “you’re bringing a fancy camera, where are the photos”, etc) So, although I typically wouldn’t look at photos or videos during a trip, I took time and energy to pick out a few videos to submit. Put them on the boat computer. Told the crew who had pestered me about them. And then not a single one was used. Not one. It was a waste of my time, as well as hurtful, as every other person who had submitted material had something used. I have never been so pushed into doing something that was so pointless.
I was again pressured into completely a survey BEFORE the trip was even finished. The computer was again put in my lap and then had comments such as “wow, taking so long can’t be good”. If I had known how horrible the trip would finish, I would have given even worse ratings.

2. There was OBVIOUS preferential treatment with a group of Korean divers. It was so apparent that other guests were insisting on diving with their group, as they were SURE the Koreans were being taken better places than the rest of us. It’s strange to always see the same people under water and to NEVER see the Koreans. And it didn’t matter the order in which the groups were going into the water. I have never been treated as less then another group, as my husband and I paid to be on the boat as well. And to have one diver present her photos during cocktail hour multiple times throughout the week is unprofessional and caste-like. Glad we were in 3rd class.

3. Our room flooded. Not a big deal. Except that our beds were made, with NO mention of the VERY wet floor. I told one of the crew. No big deal; things like this happen. But then what happened? Basically nothing. Towels were put down. That then became soaking wet. And remained there ALL day. No one checked to see if things dried out. No one checked in at all on us. An Aggressor crew would have dried the floor and checked in to make sure it was dry. Glad we were in 3rd class.

4. Celina, one of the dive masters, was rude. I’ve never been treated so poorly by a crew member. She persistently bumped into my husband and I whenever we were sitting. She rolled her eyes at my husband and muttered something under her breath when he told her he couldn’t see her presentation and asked if she could move over. As she was sitting right in front of the tv, that was a reasonable request. She made comments throughout the trip on the amount of weight I was using. I know how buoyant I am. I have over 600 dives, wearing a 5 mm wetsuit and not a light woman. I don’t need a dive master persistently commenting on my weight. And in front of my group of divers, it’s highly inappropriate and unprofessional. I never ran low on air. I never had buoyancy issues. After 1 or 2 dives, she needed to stop making verbal comments.

5. My husband LITERALLY had to argue with one of the dive masters to get the weight he needed. He was “threatened” with “you’ll have to talk to the captain”. My husband is an instructor in the Pacific Northwest, with over 2000 dives. We both drive regularly in warm water and regularly in fast currents in cold water. Again, being questioned on amount of weight is one thing, but to literally have to argue and then to listen to snide comments throughout the trip is insane. After 1 or 2 dives, they should have let it go. It was clear my husband and I were experienced divers who knew what we were doing and whose weighting was perfect for us.

6. There was no consistency between dive masters, so it was impossible to know what the expectations were. Some were willy-nilly about briefings, others gave briefings that ended up not making sense at all (i.e. “we will meet at the sand” and the sand was deeper than 130 feet). Our group was literally yelled at by the “meet at the sand” dive master, Manu, on our first dive because he was unclear that he was aborting the dive for everyone. Very unprofessional and a bad way to start the trip. Celina consistently led our group away from where shark cleaning stations were. She frequently had us swimming face into current, for no apparent reason. Our best dives that she “led” were dives where the group did the opposite of where she was leading. I’ve never felt like a dive master had purposely tried to ruin dives before this trip.

7. Communication was terrible. We were told several different things before even getting to the boat. It’s sad that this was the least of the disappointments.

I’ve never been so happy to get off a dive boat. And even saying good bye at the end, some crew refused to shake my hand.
I want to highlight that there were some really nice crew as well. The captain, Oscar, was friendly and made me feel welcome and safe. The chef and engineer (unfortunately I don’t remember their names) were kind and friendly, even with limited English. My favorite crew member, Rodrigo, was phenomenal at customer service. He was one of the few who made me feel just as welcome onboard as the Koreans. He did not play favoritism. Rodrigo treated everyone the same; with respect and kindness. Rodrigo, Oscar, the chef and engineer were the reasons I still tipped. This was the first liveaboard where I wanted to leave nothing.
This makes me sad, as my husband and I are very active divers in our community, with our own dive club. We put together 2-3 dive trips a year. We had heard such great things about the Nautilus and are sad that we cannot say the same. We will not be endorsing your company and felt you should know why.
Please respond so I know I have been heard. Not like onboard.

I am thrilled to write a heartfelt recommendation to the incredible diving organization that I had the privilege to experience during my Liveaboard diving holidays on Nautilus Explorer. From beginning to end every aspect of the trip was handled with utmost care and high level of professionalism, Thanks to Captain Ramon and his wonderful crew !
The level of service provided by the diving team Celina, Pascal, Dani, Carlos was outstanding. They went above and beyond to ensure all the guests felt welcome and well care off. Their attention to details and commitment to create a positive atmosphere truly made the diving experiences memorable. They are all multitalented and highly skilled They are happy to share their passion, knowledge through presentation on Manta, on Sharks and marine life, or to offer a glass with joy and care during cocktail hours, to ensure we all have a dry towel after the dive or have drunk enough of water before diving.... and so on ... not to mention how perfectly guided we have been under water to experience such experiences with Mantas and various sharks, witnesses their curious behaviour towards us, allowing us to feel invited in their wild environment! We need masters to know how to bring us to those awesome extraordinary moments and Pascal is an extremely adorable talented instructor, highly experienced he knows how to maintain the balance between "safety first engagement" to excitement of very well prepared dives, and preparation of divers. Lets supposed , we, as divers, did well, as following the dives instructors recommendations we have been involved in Life Time Memorable Events !
Thank you and thank you again, my heart is full of gratitude, joy, love, respect and may be faith in humans beings !

Terrible experience and extreme dissatisfaction with Nautilus Liveboards!
I booked the great white shark cage diving trip off of Guadalupe Island in Aug 2022. Initially, I was understanding when access to Guadalupe was restricted, and Nautilus allowed me to re-book for August 2023. Unfortunately, access was again restricted, and this is where my frustration began. Nautilus refused to allow me to reschedule for the following year, offering instead to apply my deposit ($900) to one of their other trips, however none of the alternatives provided a similar experience.
When I requested a refund of my deposit, I was informed that I needed to speak with President Mike Lever and the only means of contacting him was via email. Despite multiple emails, I received absolutely no response from Mr. Lever.
Attempts to follow up by phone resulted in vague responses from the staff, promising to remind Mike Lever to respond. This lack of communication and transparency was not only unprofessional but also left me feeling ignored and mistreated as a customer.
To escalate the matter, I involved the Department of Consumer Protection from my state, hoping to find a resolution. Nautilus's response, through their attorney, was dismissive and unhelpful, essentially claiming that my state had no jurisdiction and I had no right to a refund.
I am not one to leave negative reviews, but this experience has left me deeply disappointed and frustrated. It is disheartening to encounter a company that not only fails to deliver the promised services but also evades communication and appears to keep deposits without providing any reasonable alternatives or solutions.

I sincerely hope that Nautilus Liveboards takes customer concerns seriously and addresses these issues properly. I caution others to think twice before considering doing business Nautilus Liveboards or Mike Lever.

We are proud to always do our very best for each and every client. It’s a pleasure to pick up the phone and chat with clients and talking is without a doubt the best way to resolve issues. Choosing to lodge a complaint via lawyers is never going to get the same kind of result as a polite conversation. We have a number of options to offer.

Literally one of the worst experiences of my life … this company abandon us during the Cabo hurricane by refusing to answer emails or texts for two days leaving numerous people stuck in Cabo without any guidance. Then they took us to waters looking for bait balls where all we found were fisherman with faster boats who left us little chance with any in water interactions.. 1 miniature bait ball in three days was all we got… the food is not as advertised, the management some of the worst I have seen … I highly suggest booking with some one else … they are all about saving money on their end with experiences being over promised and under delivered. We are truly sorry to hear about your disappointing experience with us during your trip to the Sea of Cortez. We understand how challenging and distressing it can be, especially during unexpected natural events like a hurricane. First and foremost, we want to acknowledge the difficulties faced during the hurricane. La Paz got hit with an unexpected severity, causing significant damage including the sinking of 80 boats and impacting several of our vessels. This unforeseen event led to delays and disruptions that were beyond our control. A critical challenge during this time was the disruption to communication networks caused by the hurricane. This unfortunate circumstance significantly hampered our ability to respond to emails and texts as promptly as we would under normal conditions. We realize how important communication is, especially in times of uncertainty, and we regret any additional stress this caused. Despite these challenges, we strived to make the best of the situation. Our guests' safety and well-being were our top priority. We informed our guests about the delay and, as a gesture of our commitment, we hosted a complimentary dinner and drinks for everyone. This was our way of making up for the time lost and to show our appreciation for your understanding. Regarding the marine experiences, our goal is always to provide unique and memorable interactions with marine life. However, these experiences can be unpredictable, especially following a natural disaster that disrupts marine habitats. We regret that the wildlife sightings did not meet your expectations on this occasion. Our crew, led by Captain Mike, is highly experienced and dedicated to providing the best possible experience, even in challenging circumstances. To compensate for the inconvenience, Captain Mike personally offered complimentary services to our guests. We take your feedback seriously and will use it to improve our services. Our team is dedicated to providing exceptional experiences, and we are disheartened to hear when we fall short. We would like the opportunity to discuss this further with you and see how we might be able to rectify your experience. Please feel free to reach out to us directly. Thank you for your feedback, and we hope to have the chance to welcome you aboard again under better circumstances.

The day of our arrival in Cabo we were told Gallant Lady had been damaged in storm but would be better than new for departure the next day (Sunday). On Sunday we were told the boat could not make it from Las Paz to Cabo so a 2hr bus ride would be “provided” and we would arrive at boat 3hrs later than planned That bus ride had stops and delays - likely cause boat was not ready. On arrival the carpets were wet and windows dirty. The jacuzzi did not work. The air-fill nitrox compressor failed. A portable air compressor was delivered. The hot water was insufficient for our full boat of divers. WiFi/internet was $100 per week per device. Drinks were 6-8$ and not a single one was free in response to all the problems on boat. All problems were explained with excuses that did not make sense and were inconsistent from one day to next. Staff was lovely but were new to boat and had not worked together before so every schedule was many hours behind. Food was good. Sylvia was great. was good. Diving was fair. This liveaboard should never have left dock. And owner Mike was making all decisions. Suggest you use your thousands of dollars elsewhere.

Accccchhhh, La Paz was hit really hard by a hurricane fall of 2023 that was forecast to track further south. Instead the hurricane veered north and then stalled right over La Paz. The city was flooded. Power was off. 80 boats sank or were washed onto the beach. 80 boats!! Some marinas were blown apart. It was a really tough event. Safety and excellence in guest experience are cornerstones of our company and we worked super hard post hurricane to get our beautiful Gallant Lady ready for charter for the La Paz embarkation with scheduled pre-planned luxury coach connection from Cabo. Because we were working to the last minute to get the expedition yacht ready, we invited our guests to join us for a stop enroute for drinks and dinner with our compliments. Was the condition of the gallant lady perfect on this trip? Unfortunately no, we weren’t able to be 100% recovered from the hurricane. But our amazing crew, crew like Silvia who has been with us onboard for 22 years, pulled out all the stops, included a lot of comps and did a terrific job of looking after our guests..
