This was one of the highlights of our vacation. Great class on wines. Jose Miguel Leon Fiol, the Sollelier was very engaging and informative. His knowledge was outstanding. His pairings perfect. My wife even crushed grapes with her bare feet. So much fun while we learned and were entertained and fed.

What an absolute honor and privilege it was to be a part of the experience of attending the Winemaking and Wine Tasting Class conducted by Sommelier José Martínez Cáceres! First of all the venue was spectacular... Sitting out on the terrace of Don Luis Restaurant at the Grand Solmar Resort with the sound of ocean waves crashing on the shore below provided a perfect backdrop for this event! José proved to be a most skilled instructor and one heck of an entertainer as well. We learned Mexican viticultural history along with the origin of the grape varietals used in the five separate wines that were highlighted in the tasting. The pairing of each wine with a food dish were all spot on and inspired, each was nothing shy of a Masterpiece. José’s exuberance for wines glowed through during his class, his expertise was amazing and his teaching style made us all a most captive audience.... I highly recommend this class for anyone who loves, or is interested in learning about, wine and wine pairings. You will not be disappointed!

Jose, the Master Sommelier and Miguel really educate you about the origins of wine and what to pair with certain meals. We 1st attended June 23rd and came back to Cabo this week and brought different family members to the wine tasting class. IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Every pairing of wine came with an appetizer size dish to enhance the experience. Jose is extremely knowledgeable and answers any questions you have. No question is a dumb question. Definitely recommend this class to everyone!

Crazy good. Been to wine tastings in France Italy Sonoma Napa Oakville, and this one really tops them!

Many things to judge tasting on, including Ambiance , presentation, pairing, education, And mostly, fun.

Jose, the pool cabana Concierge told us about this first, as it isn’t that well advertised

. Glad he did, because this gent knows everything going on, Even if it’s not in his immediate wheelhouse.

Short story Miguel, a young Sommelier, amazed us with his depth of knowledge. Particularly something we Americans don’t get is how good Mexican wines are; Most Mexican resorts just assume we want French or Californian. Been there.

The oldest winery in North America is in Mexico! 16th century Casa Medero .

Apparently the conquering Spaniards brought some seeds with them. Hey, Priorities.

About six pairings, all beautiful and well-managed including a wonderful floral Viognier, as well, assortment of varietals and blends, including a superior cab Franc.

You will not regret it.

I hesitated about writing this review because I’m afraid this experience will become too popular! But Julia the sommelier is so delightful, I had to share
our experience.
It’s important to arrive hungry, there are six courses, paired with wine from around Mexico & the world. The portion are tapas size & exquisitely prepared. Julia is very knowledgeable & provides some fascinating information about wine making.
The group is usually limited to 12 or so people so you do get to engage with most of the other guests.
The setting of course is breathtaking on the patio of La Rocca or Don Luis facing the ocean.
A can’t miss experience on your next visit to Grand Solmar

This was a new activity that we hadn’t tried and decided to sign up for. WOWZA, what a fun, educational experience. A great way to spend an afternoon!! We had sommeliers ELMO and ALONSO who shared a wealth of knowledge about the history of wine making along with pairing some incredible wines from a variety of vineyards and gourmet bites. We ended the experience with crushing grapes like they do in the old country. So much fun! Wonderful team of individuals that you will want to meet!

We were thoroughly impressed with the two knowledgeable samaliers at the La Roca Restaurant at the Grand Solmar Land's End! Elmo and Alonso instructed us on the history and information of several different Mexican wines as well as others! We enjoyed a fantastic six course food and wine pairing! We were pleasantly surprised and enjoyed this experience! You won't be treated better from any other staff anywhere!
