I was very excited to see this factory, as it is supposed to be the oldest one. While the building is nice, they need to improve their attitude and the way they treat people. We entered the shop and no one offered to help us, we felt like an inconvenience. Even when we were trying to find some pieces to... More

Initially this building looks like a classy show-room for the very beautiful and expensive Talavera ceramics on sale, but you need to take a tour, when you will be shown round the area behind the central courtyard and discover how these lovely items are made. The tour is not particularly well advertised (we discovered it by accident) so ask at... More

I have been traveling in Mexico for four months. Based on reviews here I walked way out of my way to get here. Not one person here greeted me or acknowledged me in any way. I only arrived in Puebla yesterday so have not looked at a lot of Talavera. What was here was very nice but I would not... More

The best Talavera in Puebla. Uriarte has been in business since early 1800's. And, it shows in the quality and craftsmanship. Sign up for the factory tour. I believe it is once a day at 11 am. Learn the history and how it is made. English speaking tour guide. There is Talavera all over Puebla but none of this quality.... More

We spent a week in Puebla, Mexico and visited the three "authentic" workshops making traditional, official Talavera pottery. Uriarte Talavera had the most authentic pieces at a fantastic price. They will ship to you anywhere in the world. Look for the blue marks on the bottom of your talavera plate -- D 4 -- to confirm it's authentic Talavera.

Top quality, hand made, not two pieces are the same, Origin Denomination, which means there´s only Talavera in Puebla. Beautiful designs. Great!

This was one of the highlights of the trip! This talavera factory and store is one of the oldest businesses in Mexico and one of a handful of authentic talavera vendors (per strict governmental requirements). Each piece is made by hand. Be sure not to miss the 11am tour of the factory where you will see all of the many... More

We have lived in Mexico for several years and held off buying any Talavera until we visited Puebla which is the home of this remarkable art form. I had done some research in advance in advance of our trip to Puebla and decided that a visit to the Uriarte Talavera operation was a must. On our visit, we were greeted... More

We spent a couple days in Puebla and this was our favorite part. Javier gave us a private tour in English and the pottery was exception. We loved learning about and growing in appreciation for this wonderful art form. We highly recommend. Javier was kind, fun, his English was great, and he's an artist himself.

Such an informative tour! Worth a stop if you love Talavera. It was fascinating to go behind the scenes to see how Uriarte Talavera is produced. Our tour guide Maria walked us through the factory and let us see all the stages of production from the clay, glazing, stenciling with charcoal, firing and painting. I would highly recommend stopping by... More
