Located inside the church of Santo Domingo near the main square / Cathedral of Puebla, the Rosary Chapel (Capilla del Rosario) was regarded as the 8th wonder of the world following its completion in the 17th century. If this is one of your first stops in Mexico, prepare to be amazed by the gold that heavenly adorns this side chapel!... More

We walked by this church on a Sunday afternoon, just before 2pm. We had missed the early masses at the Cathedral near the Zocalo so assumed I was out of luck. Not so, when we went inside the "Chapel" for a look, we discovered a mass was just starting. We stayed for the service, yes, all in Spanish of course.... More

We visited this church from the XVII century, and were pleasantly surprised by the fantastic gold work, and its baroque / new Spanish style. The guide, whose name I cannot recall was very helpful.

It is a baroque style little chapel inside a big church called Santo Domingo. Is is covered in gold leaves and it is simply stunning, shining. You can see the little dark skin angels on the walls, a detail that tells us indigenous people worked for the Spaniards in these buildings.

One of the nicest colonial churches in Puebla. Restorations nearly complete. Lots of gold leaf has been cleaned.

A must, if you want to see baroque in its splendor, this is it. Even if you don´t like this art period, you will be impressed by this gorgeous chapel.

I've been to churches in France and Rome that were not nearly as nice or as beautiful. The church is a must-see if you are in Puebla.

they say there are about 379 churches in Puebla. I only went to 5 but have visited churches and cathedrals all over the world and I can say I was shocked to see how beautiful it is!!! One of the best I have visited. From the outside it looks like many other churches but once you step inside you can... More

The Santo Domingo Church façade is severely grey quarry stone gives no clue to the opulence within. I thought I was in the wrong place. Upon entering its a masterpiece of baroque architecture and decoration. The sumptuous plasterwork and gold leaf contribute to the extravagant décor that characterizes Mexican baroque style. The Capilla del Rosario, on the south side of... More
