The Arts District is just one of the many streetscapes that make Puebla an amazing City. What is strange is that with so many cultural and historic gems, Puebla isn't a major international destination. The Barrio del Artista is like walking through a fairy tale. The beautiful building facades, tree canopy, restaurants, shops and numerous artists make you just want to stay and never leave. Oh Puebla.

What a lovely sighting and experience. This is a must when you're in Puebla. Get to know the artists and price well to take home. A must visit.

Lovely wide street with lots of seating and musicians playing. Artists at work and selling a variety of works of various standards. Lovely in the sunshine but I think it would be great at night.

This place is located along the edges of a small plaza with a fountain, trees, and seating areas. Lots of stalls of varying kinds of art are available for purchase. A bonus of the day we were there was an antique/flea market in the plaza. I enjoyed seeing Mexicans shopping for the same sort of treasures I look for when shopping.

If you like to see local art, this is the place to visit! We went several times while we were in Puebla as not all artists are there all the time. There are so many different styles, techniques, skill levels and subjects that it was most enjoyable. There are students painting as well as highly skilled artists. The prices range the gamut. I think this is a must visit for anyone who enjoys art. On the weekends there are street fairs and a very festive atmosphere. Because it is mainly "Open Air" do not go if it is cold as everything seems to shut down!

Continue walking from the Parian Markey to this more relaxed stretch. Shops, cafes, and bars line the street, with some shops offering paintings of a certain decorating type that tends to appeal to tourists, i.e. paintiongs of the Cholula church atop the pyramid.
There are some young artists showing original prints /engravings for sale in the passageway by the university where the arts and crafts folks set up on weekends, a few blocks away.
It's pleasant to sit on a bench or at one of the cafes and rest a bit under the trees. At the end of the walking area heading toward the big highway- Blvd Heroes del Cinco de Mayo-is a museum on the left hand side (currently a show of photographs of Frida Kahlo bit check out the current exhibit) and on the right a multistory complex of galleries, cafes, bars with very loud music.

We could have spent all day in one of the Talavera fabricas. The potters and painters were fantastic and it was so worth the 35 pesos entrance.
