Lots of activities to do in the park but today we preferred to hike to the Antelope Falls. The hike takes you into the jungle where there are incredible variety of plants and trees. You can also see Howler monkeys. Also watch for the Leaf Cutter Ants. They March on their own highways were they are working like crazy to carry their small pieces of leaves. Fascinating!

Easy to get to from Hopkins and you don't need a tour guide. Just get a ride there or drive yourself and you can do hikes and swims and see some great jungle scenery. There's a lunch spot at the Lodge which is more expensive than town but great food and friendly staff. You can tell your ride person to pick you up later on and that means not having to go on a tour and not having to rent a car. We hiked to Antelope Falls which they say is tough but not really if you are in shape and then to lower Bocawina Falls and didn't have time to get to the other two falls above that. Great day?

Nice little park! The rangers are very helpful and informative and helped us decide what to do with our time there. Several of us did the hike up to Antelope Falls, about 2 miles round trip. Tough but worth it! Nice and cool swimming hole. Two days later I did the loop trail, about 8 miles total with four water falls and swimming holes. Big Drop Falls was awesome...and a big drop getting there! Take PLENTY of water on any of these hikes. Nice way to get a taste of the jungle.

Nature at its best. The park is easily accessible, the road is not paved but maintained. Remember this is rural Belize! Ample parking and covid complaint . The staff is very welcoming and knowledgeable. After a brief explanation of all the trails you can be on your way. We chose the antelope fall which was marked as steep and labeled at 45 minutes, which is accurate . The first portion of the trail is very easy and then it gets inclined but not difficult. The second portion in my opinion is very dangerous. Go free hands, because you will need to use both hands , there is a special difficult spot with almost no area to walk on. If you have an accident here not sure how you will be rescued. Once you finally get to the top of the water fall and pool are gorgeous and you go for a swim. We were very disappointed to see that some visitors left garbage behind. Take into consideration that the same way you went up is the same way down.

Wonderful hike to and through (unexcavated) Mayan ruins took us through dense and beautiful tropical forest where we saw all kinds of flora, termite mounds, toucans... I wore long plants and a long-sleeved shirt despite the warmth, and I'm glad I did as other members of my party suffered bug bites. The trail was muddy in spots so good hiking boots/shoes are recommended. There's a variety of hikes to choose from. facilities are primitive. Accessing the park requires a long drive down dirt roads.

This is a beautiful park. We stayed in the lodge for 3 days and hiked a lot of the trails near it.

There are unexcavated Mayan ruins in the park and numerous waterfalls. There's a huge variety of birds. They are hard to see in the jungle, but easy to spot in the open area near the lodge.

Some of the trails are pretty challenging, while others (e.g. the Bird Loop) are fairly flat. There are hardly any people on them, so you feel like you're alone in the jungle.

The zip line was great, but long and expensive (9 platforms, 2 hrs, $75). BEWARE the road! Coming back out we got 2 flat tires. Yes, I was going probably 35 mph when I should have been doing 20. Then, as we changed the tires, we got over 200 tick bites! Yes, 200! We didn´t notice until we got home. Each bite looked like a bad mosquito bite but had a tiny black tick at the center. Ugh!

The Mayflower Bocawina park is an amazing and accessible preserve. Hiking trails range from mild to hardcore with river and jungle views, water falls, Mayan ruins and incredible flora and fauna all around. A great place to spend a few hours or an entire week.

We drove from Hopkins to the park and walked up the trail to lower Bocawina falls for a swim. It was a decent walk, not strenuous at all. The water is crystal clear and cool, but it feels great.

After a nice swim in the lower falls, we made the hike to the upper falls. It was more strenuous and there are some sections where it is it is quite slippery. The upper pool is absolutely worth the hike, the water was deeper, and the ambiance was magical. Absolutely worth it.

We paid $10 Belize per person (5 USD) at the gate. The staff at the nature center there have some cool things to look at, and some Mayan relics you could handle.

There are some unrestored Mayan mounds and structures right there, climb one if you haven't had the chance.

To get to the trail for Bocawina falls: Drive past the visitor center, drive towards the zip line company & restaurant, and there is a little road that continues strait right after the entrance to the restaurant. Drive down that, take pictures of flowers and humming birds on the way, and park near the clump of coconut palms. 15 min walk and you are at the lower falls, 15-20 min more and you are at the upper falls. Bring lots of bug spray to reapply after each swim. Not much need for sunblock as you are mostly shaded.
