As Via Rail does not come into Calgary, we drove up to Edmonton. The parking lot is under construction and no parking is offered anywhere.

A must do. True love you a great adventure, the VIA rail crews were really friendly and helpful. A great way to relax, not worry about E mails, take in some fantastic views. Meet different people both locals and tourists. One of the last real long distance trains. Experience it

Travel with VIA Rail is always a delight. Boarding is easy and efficient, seats are roomy enough for the 4 hours trip. They bring the snack wagon through frequently. Delays can be a pain, but priority is always given to freight traffic on shared rail. Corridor service is rarely more than 15/20 minutes off schedule.

We boarded VIA's The Canadian train at Toronto and travelled 3 days, 4 nights to Vancouver. We booked a sleeper cabin that consisted of two armchairs which converted to a set of double bunks. These were very comfortable and we had no problems sleeping at night. Our steward prepared the beds. We also had our own toilet and wash basin.... More

As a 21 year old university student, I'm usually too broke to afford business class. This time I booked super early for a somewhat important trip from Toronto to Ottawa, and with business class only costing about $50 extra, I decided to treat myself. Now, maybe it's just because I've never been in business class before, but I had really... More

We travelled from Toronto to Vancouver on the Canadian. The trip itself was great and the veiws were breath taking. The train was a little tired looking here and there, but you would expect that as it was built in 1954, although kept reasonably clean. The staff were amazing and a credit to Via Rail. However, we paid for a... More

Took the train from oshawa to Montreal then returned. On the way there went economy but upgraded the trip home to business. Worth it. The lounge in Montreal was a bit disappointing though. Very crowded and not every seat had outlets to charge electronics. The wifi was terrible. Had a poor selection of drinks, no food and terrible coffee. Most... More

I regularly use Viarail to travel Ottawa-Toronto route for business, as do many people. In the newer cars, they have reconfigured the seating so that over half the seats face backwards, and many are facing each other. So if you prefer to sit facing the direction of travel, and/or travel alone and prefer not to be in a group of... More
