Caerhays Castle is one of the very few Nash built castles still left standing, and is situated within approximately 120 acres of informal woodland gardens created by J C Williams, who sponsored plant hunting expeditions to China at the turn of the century.

As well as guided tours of the house from March to June, visitors will see some of the magnificent selection of plants brought back by the intrepid plant hunters of the early 1900s - these include not only the collection of magnolias but a wide range of rhododendrons and the camellias which Caerhays and the Williams family are associated with worldwide.

Beautiful gardens, fairytale castle setting and a lovely cafe. We had excellent smoked salmon sandwiches, home made scones and a chocolate cake as good as my Granny's- there is no higher praise.

Whilst visiting friends in Cornwall they took us to Caerhays Castle and gardens, We did not go into the Castle as we were content walking around the garden. It is filled with Magnolia, Rhododendron, and Azalea. what a wonderful sight. We sat eating lunch on a bench looking over the fields on the edge of the garden, felt very relaxed.... More

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your visit to Caerhays. The garden is full of Spring colour at the moment, I am glad you enjoyed it. It is easy to find a quiet tranquil spot too and most of our benches take advantage of the views. The gardens are not far from the coastal path... More

Lovely setting for a house and lovely well stocked gardens. Lovely yellow magnolia trees. Lots of maps of the gardens around. We didn't go in the house this time but do ring and rebook a time as they get very busy.

These are lovely gardens to wander around.Quite steep in places but there are plenty of benches! Spring is definatly the best time but very pleasant all year round, especially combined with a "beach day". There is a charge and the car must be parked at the beach car park, about 10/15 min slow walk up to the castle. The cafe is well... More

We have visited both the gardens and the castle several times before but felt it was time to visit the castle again. Knowing how popular the tours can get we telephoned in the morning and managed to book ourselves on the 2.30 tour. We were able to park at the castle as one of our party is recovering from a... The Caerhays estate is in a beautiful setting. Magnificant spring gardens with towering magnolia trees and colourful camelias and rhododendrons. At the end of our visit we decided to have cream teas. Despite being told the scones had been freshly made, the scones were stale and hard. The coffee too was poor - very weak. Not a good advert for... More
