Amazing experience. We were picked up at our Airbnb & driven here in the dark. Twelve people total. Van parked & we were lead directly to a waiting boat. A fifteen minute ride & the phosphorus lights began to appear in the wake of the...More

We went on a moonless, star lit night. Just being out on the water under all those stars was worth it. The water was quite warm and the bioluminescence was just so beautiful. Well worth the trip. We just booked from a place on the...More

Swim in glowing water! Just make sure to go when the moonlight is at a minimum (or go on a cloudy night). And don't be afraid to jump in and go swimming. It's the only way to get the best out of the experience. The...More

If you are in the area you should really do a bioluminescence tour. It’s not expensive and it’s really worth it.

The key is to go during a dark night, so try to plan for a new moon. Basically a boat takes you out into the lagoon at night where you swim for an hour or so, and every single move you make in the water...More

My friends and i went to see the luminescent plankton, and i can truly say it has been one of the most amazing experience I've had. We swam in the lagoon at night, and everything would glow. Very very recommended.

The tour arranged through our hotel, Casamar Suites in Zicatela, was SO GREAT. I wish I knew the name of the tour company, but maybe get the info from them? We did the bird/lagoon daylight thing which was nice, but the sunset on the beach...More

You can check the lunar calendar to see where your trip falls during the moon cycle. I can not recommend a bioluminescent tour when there is a lot of moonlight, but during the darker 1/2 of the month, others have said it is... More

To hire kayaks, no tour operators are needed, just take a collectivo or taxi to Puesta del Sol lodge/restaurant. Go early, it gets very hot in late morning.
