Zicatela is the best beach if you want to surf and to enjoy the nightlife. Plenty of restaurant and clubs are waiting for you every day and night to enjoy from breakfast to late drinks. Enjoy a cerveza or a margarita watching the sun going...More

For years I've been going to Puerto Escondido and every year there are drownings on Playa Zicatela. It's a great place to watch the surfers, but the undertow is usually always there. Take a beach blanket and catch some sun and watch the world go...More

The newly built beach-side restaurants & bars block a view of the ocean in many places...a big mistake!

Playa Zicatela provides a broad expanse of sand and surf. The waves are varied so gauge their strength - they can be strong enough for surfing so take care with younger children and weak swimmers. For a nominal commitment to purchase food/beverages or for a...More

This is one of the longest beaches I've ever been at. Perfect to watch the surfers in the morning, and the sunset at the evening. A lot of bars and restaurants along the beach. The only down side is all the loose wild dogs strolling...More

Beautiful wide bay with great, daunting surfswells, not for beginners. Strewn with beachrestaurants renting chairs and selling food and the street opposite full of surfstores, souvenirshops, restaurants this is a must on any stop in Puerto Escondido

We are not surfers, but enjoy watching them on this huge beach. The waves are too rough for comfort, so we just stay in the edge. But the beach is lovely, very uncrowded, and with loungers, under umbrellas, with good food/drink service. It's also slap...More

Playa Zicatella is just one beach of 4 in Puerto Escondido. It is the main surfing beach (mican pipeline) not a fishing beach. I have never seen any violence in Puerto Escondido and have been going there for over 20 years
