The group of monuments at Pattadakal are part of the Unesco World Heritage site. The temples and structures inside the complex are beautiful with intricate carvings and designs. The history of this place dates back to the Chalukyan empire. Guide service is available here which adds to the historical significance of this place. You need to spend good 3-4 hours here.

An excellent early morning or late evening trip. Ticket charges are higher than normal asi monuments. It's listed as a world heritage site. During the time of Chalukya kings, the coronation used to be at this place and the grandeur is quite evident. The guide charges are minimum 300 if you are hiring one in location. Time taken would be... More

It tells the story of Indian Temple Architecture. There are North Indian Shikara type temples and the South Indian style temples here. Chalukyan rulers were not only empire builders, but great patrons of art whose encouragement prompted the artists and craftsmen to experiment and innovate in different architectural styles and giving it a new dimension. It is in their period... More

Beautiful temples!! Make sure you first visit the Museum in Badami and spend some time reading the history and learn about the key monuments. Over time I have realized it so much more nicer to explore things yourself than with a guide. If its the first ever visit to a Chalukya or Vijayanagar empire temple..you may need a guide, else... The encouragement and support of rulers of Chalukya Dynasty in India in 6th Century, could be seen in the sculptures of Groups of Monuments in Pattadakal. The knowledge, dedication of scriptures, skill and talent of people are seen. People having interest in Indian History can hope to spend days studying the monuments.

Amazing set of old temples. Tells about prestigious history India had. Can spend couple of hours. Road to the site was under construction during aug 2016 and couple of kms was bumpy but was navigable. Should be ready by now.

This to me is a must see while covering north Karnataka. In fact, one could cover aihole, Pattadakal and Badami in a day as all three of them are within 35 kms of each other. Pattadakal contains monuments belonging to Chalukya dynasty. Incredibly well preserved by the government, one is transported back in history by its magnitude n grandeur n... More
