We were able to walk to the dive boat from our hotel. The dive center was on site. Short boat ride to the reef. I wish the boat was larger. Crew and dive masters were friendly and very safety conscious.

I took the Scuba certification course in Puerto Aventuras while at the Dream hotel. Highly recommend it - my instructor Kirsten was great and the entire Prodive team was friendly and helpful. Also recommend taking the Cozumel dive trip with them - amazing reefs.

The diving was great, but the best part was the instructor Pedro, who was very patient, supportive, and always willing to help! Fantastic job!

Just a comment about the Dolphins - I discussed the subject at length with my instructor who tells me she has to walk through there every day and hates that walk with a passion. She informed me that this particular "Dolphin Prison" - as she put it so well - has seen much reduced interest from the public - a happy result of increased public awareness and movies like "The Cove" - to a point where the operators are looking at closing it down permanently. You see these Dolphin Prison Complexes all over the place between Cancun airport and Puerto Aventuras - I highly encourage everyone to ignore your kids requests to swim with the dolphins - the less money we inject into this subsection of the economy, the sooner they will be a thing of the past - it's already starting to happen! Don't think like "hey, it's already there, it's not going to hurt anyone to go visit". It does. It hurts all of the dolphins that are being raided out of their natural habitats and enslaved and imprisoned in these places for our "enjoyment". Instead, go on a catamaran cruise in the open ocean and watch the dolphins swim in their own home! Oh and don't blame the dive centers and their staff for these horrid examples of human culture - I would say 99.999% of them are against them with a passion - they are for the most part true ambassadors of the underwater world.
