The whole part of the seashore is picturesque, but searock of Pan di Zucchero (or sugarloaf but much smaller than the one in Rio de Janeiro) is the main attraction. You can get there by car to a small parking near the sea and take a walk to the beach enjoying the views and interesting rock formations also on the land. Recommended stop when driving along the west coast of Sardinia.

As you approach Nebida from the south you see this rugged coastline and a massive outcrop of rock which at sunset look even more spectacular. It is as impressive as anything the Costa Amalfitana has to offer in terms of natural beauty but with a much wider road and with a very robust barrier to reassure those of us that are rather faint hearted. We stayed the night in Nebida and from our hotel room right on the cliff we had other great views from the reverse side and of an old mine. From the public garden in Nebida there is also a well laid out path round the cliff edge which is also not to be missed. Definitely are worth a visit; as indeed is the whole of Sardegna.

Pan di Zucchero is a stack that rises from the sea not far from the coast, near Masua. It has an area of 0.03 km², and with a height of 133 meters is the tallest stack in the Mediterranean. It is composed of limestone and became separated from the mainland many years ago. You can see it as you drive along the coast, there are quite a few photo spots. Or you can visit Masua beach and take a photo from here. We took a boat trip and saw it from close by also.

This is one of those iconic places that can characterize an entire area! Water was crystal clear and the colors of the sugar cone-like rock was an incredible view!

A natural sculpture similar to a large sugar cone, visible from a little beach just opposite and from quite a distance on the beautiful wild Costa Verde (the Green Coast). Dirt roads in the area can be tricky, in this case it was just to access the Pan si Zucchero parking area.

A spectacle
If you read a sign before the beach you find that you have to rinse when you get out of the sea and that you better wash your hands before bringing food to your mouth..eh yes the mountain overlooking the sea was a cadmium mine
All beautiful to see but without stopping

Beautiful country, full of history related to the sea and the mines. Do not miss the pedestrian walk overlooking the sea with viata on the sugar loaf.
