We had not appreciated that the cliffs are only exposed when the tide is low and so had to wait a couple of hours but it was well worth it. We had been to the Jurassic Coast at Lyme Regis in the UK but this is way way older. When you get to Joggins, go straight on; our map showed... More

We took a half an hour tour which we enjoyed. The walk is not strenuous. Bear in mind that you will primarily be looking at plant fossils, e.g tree trunks and leaves, not animal fossils. Worth a detour and good value.

Spend part of a day here wandering the shore looking for fossils. There are lots and lots of plant ones, but it's more difficult to find anything else. The small Information Centre is helpful and worth a walk through to learn more about the area.

We went as a large family including small kids and grandparents. Everyone enjoyed themselves. The day was great, the guide informative and my wife found a fossil that the centre decided to keep to research further. The trip requires a moderate level of fitness and you should wear proper footwear. Flip Flops are ill suited for walking the rocky shore.... More

The Joggins tour I took was very informative. Our guide as very knowledgable and was able to answer all our questions. After the tour you can stay down and enjoy walking up and down the area, and discover for yourself. Until the tide comes in!..Than best you start to head back.

We are from Nova Scotia but had not been there since school. We decided to take our children (1 teen, 1 toddler and 1 baby). Everyone had a great time the tour guide was great even with having a very large group. Only downside is your aren't aloud to keep anything you find but your free to look

We dropped by completely on a whim and without any clue when the tide would be high. Managed to get into the last Wanderer Tour (30 min) of the morning. The guide was extremely enthusiastic and knowledgeable which made the tour very interesting and well worth the drive through the country. Unfortunately the tide was very high by the time... More

The Joggins 4-hour hike was the highlight of my trip to Nova Scotia. I had booked it in advance, and the the day of the tour it was raining. We had a veteran guide, Dana Brown as our guide, and he told me that the tour was almost canceled because I was the only one signed up as of a... More

We highly recommend the two hour explorers tour. You explore with a guide and learn about the history and geology of the area and discover fossils. Everything you pick up the guide can tell you about. You do not keep the fossils, but return to the ground so others can enjoy.

Great, informative tour that really helped us to understand and find fossils on the beach. Be sure to avoid high tide but most other times are good. All of the fossils that we found were plants. There may be some insect and amphibian fossils but they are not as plentiful. It was a good value. Our guide was well informed.... More
