I loved visiting the museum so much that I became a volunteer. I'm there most weekends and love interacting with the visitors and artefacts on display. The excitement on children's faces when they can touch and play with things and their parents enjoy reminiscing about...More

Thank you Derek for this lovely contribution. You don't have to read very far through these reviews to see how key to all we do volunteers like you are. Perhaps you may even inspire other visitors to hop 'over the fence' and join you...

I went with my husband and father in law (no children with us) and we all found things of interest in the museum, and the volunteers were friendly and helpful in demonstrating how things worked. I was particularly interested in the 'street of shops', but...More

Thank you for this and those precious five stars, and please do return sometime with your children! We love giving them a chance to understand how their grandparents and great grandparents lived by trying things out.

As a real old fogey I found our visit to the museum of great interest. It is very well organised and has a great crew of volunteer helpers who provide some excellent details of all on display. It seems they are a constantly evolving project...More

And thank YOU for your great review. You're right that we are adding to the collection all the time and of course there are new galleries on their way too. None of this would be possible without our amazing volunteers so it's always lovely to...More

A very interesting museum with a wide variety of exhibits, many of which are "hands on". The staff are very knowledgeable and keen to impart that knowledge. Well worth a visit.

The staff are very informative and encourage you to interact with the artefacts in the museum. Allow at least four hours to fully explore all of the museum's areas . The entry is valid for a year another bonus will definitely be going back.

If they have an interest in history then it would. All the displays are interactive, and I think the telephone room would be a favourite.

Yes, but as other people have said, some spaces would be a bit tight for a large buggy. Maybe a baby carrier would be easier if you have one? They have changing facilities so you should be well catered for :)
