Mt Cheeseman is a friendly ski area that promotes a fun, family environment in an alpine setting. Cheeseman is the just 90 minutes (99km) drive from Christchurch. The mountain has a sunny aspect with groomed runs and off-piste terrain catering for all abilities. We have two T-bar lifts that provide access to the whole mountain and a learners’ rope tow in a dedicated learners’ area. For adventurers looking for untracked trails and off-piste experiences, Mt Cockayne offers challenging skiing and fantastic views of the Craigieburn Range. Cheeseman has a range of services and facilities including two accommodation lodges.

Good all round. Congenial staff. Interesting new people often from overseas. Good food choices. Lodge handy to the best of the ski-ing. Many rave about the Snowline Lodge in fact. Cheeseman is a good advertisement for the country. People flock there. Not as much good ski-ing as last year but that was due to my other obligations and not as... More

If you live in the northern hemisphere and love to ski or snowboard, New Zealand has many choices on both the North and South Islands. Having visited several and working at the one I enjoyed the most I would like to share some thoughts with you. Mt. Cheeseman, located 95 kms from Christchurch on the west coast highway is operated... 62 of us booked out Snowline Lodge, ages ranging from 4 years to 74 years. Many of the kids were under 10 and then another group of 14 year Olds, then uni graduates, young parents, older parents and a few grandparents. This is called Wellington week and is filled with people from all over NZ and Australia. We hire our... More

I stayed at Snowline Lodge and it's great to be able to ski straight to the lift from the Lodge. The Lodge itself is basic but perfectly adequate and the food was good. The field is small but has some good off piste. It has 2 t-bars which is good for those who don't like the nutcrackers that other club... More

Mt. Cheeseman is my first solo experience driving up & skiing a club field without a chairlift. It is the 8th ski area I visited in New Zealand. As a Canadian who is used to skiing at "regular commercial ski areas", I made sure I have had enough "practice" driving up Kiwi ski field access roads & use of t-bars... More

Just had terrific week staying in on the mountain lodge with everything included - so nice to walk out door and hop on to the T bar. People from all over NZ here. Really liked the big fire and casual friendly atmosphere of the place Pretty good coffee in the day lodge too

We purchased a treatme voucher for two adults for bed board and ski passes, for 3 days and 2 nights. We paid seperately for the 3 kids, which turned out to be a little bit more expensive than i had anticipated - i was under the impression that as they were travelling with us they would have their ski passes... Loved the restaurant which served broccoli and blue cheese soup with yummy breads. I didn't expect such good food up there. The skiing was great and not too challenging.

If your looking for a snowboarding/skiing holiday, and don't care much about where your sleeping that night- Snowline lodge is the place to stay! The drive up to the mountain wasn't very long at all, the staff were very nice and welcoming to us and it was very cosy. There were 6 of us who went to New Zealand and... More
