Torr Vale Mill, a Grade 2 listed former cotton mill, built by Daniel Strafford in the 1780s and rebuilt in the 1850s. Until the 1940s it was powered by steam and water, until electricity took over.The mill was still in use constantly until its closure in December 2000.Torr Vale Mill sits on the River Goyt opposite the inspiring Millennium Walkway.The Mill was the longest used textile mill in the country and is now being developed to host music and art events, outer building as holiday lets as well as being used as office space by the owners.

What a stunning building. A gem of our industrial heritage. This would be even more amazing if the renovation was accelerated and we could see more of it.

Anyone interested in industrial archticture cannot fail to be impressed with the Mill building and all that surrounds it. A great view is available from the equally magnificent Millenium Walkway.

The Mill is in fairly bad shape at the moment but I've heard it will at some point be renovated and put to another use. It serves as a reminder of the towns history as a cotton mill.
