You can spend a weekend just hiking in the hoodoos or floating down writing on stones lazy creek. Prepare to fall in love with the Alberta prairies in a whole new... More

Secluded campground to say the least, with nice sites and facilities. Staff very friendly and helpful. Visitors center a must see. But the star attraction the Hoodoo's are amazing, within steps of the campground, providing easy access. However those humans that feel compelled to carve there initials everywhere may soon limit the access for all to these natural wonders. Photo... More

We stopped in here while staying at the campgrounds. It was very informative and interesting. The staff was very professional and nice. We took the bus tour and found it to be outstanding. Very interesting and a lot of fun. It is a bit of a hike so if you are not very fit it may not be the tour... More

Thank you for your review. We are very happy to hear you enjoyed the programming and services offered. And good note about the runners; we always suggest runners for the trails and they are required for the tours... but pack those flip-flops for the beach; especially in the summer! More

Writing On Stone Provincial Park provides significant insight into the history of this part of the province. It has high quality facilities and services. Several tours a day of the petroglyphs plus self guided tours. Lot's of information available. It is a well run park with friendly staff and a good layout. Plus they have a shuttle service to take... We stayed at the campground for one night. The camp sites are fairly private with lots of trees and space. Climbing on/through hoodoos and stopping to read the history along the way made for a hike that was one of a kind! Definitely recommended!

Just returned from a week long camping trip with 2 daughters and their young families. We have camped here several times before dating from over 25 years. The campground is set by hoodoos which are a blast for all of us to climb - even the 2 year old enjoyed climbing the rocks. There is a 2 km hike -... More

The campground is great and spacious. Lots of things to do for kids - climbing hoodoos, hiking, beach. No swimming due to bacteria in the river. We did the evening 'rock art' tour which let us view petroglyphs that are not accessible otherwise. Our guide Bess was wonderful and the information she provided helped us to truly appreciate the area... More

We had a great experience at Writing-On-Stone and Becky provided us with a fabulous tour filled with history and stories- she really made the tour come alive. We wish we had more time to enjoy all of the other aspects of the park.

We took the guided tour of the petroglyphs - highly recommended. Book in advance, as spaces are limited. Rather than take the van back with the tour group, we hiked the 6 km Hoodoos trail back to the Visitor Centre. If you do the morning tour, be sure to bring plenty of water, as hiking that trail in the noonday... More

Thank you for your review! One correction I might add is that the Hoodoo Interpretive Trail is 2.2km, one way, back to the campground (a little extra if you detour off the main trail to check out the awesome Battle Scene petroglyph as you mentioned!), and ~0.25km from the campground up to the Visitor Centre.
