I’ve had an amazing time learning photography in the mountains around Banff with Nick. He is very approachable and friendly - when I first contacted him he responded super fast and answered all my questions. I’ve now been on two group trips with Nick and both were great – small groups, beautiful locations, really well thought out and organized and it’s clear that Nick is happy to share his extensive knowledge of both photography and the mountains. He is diligent in ensuring everyone is happy, comfortable and safe and it doesn’t matter how experienced you are, he is able to provide advice and encouragement to beginners through to the experienced photographer. I’m super happy with my progress since I started learning with Nick, reigniting my interest and passion for photography.

Thank you Nick for a fantastic weekend! I would highly recommend one of Nick's workshops, in fact this was my second. Nick has excellent local area knowledge and will get you to unique locations. You will come away with non "traditional" Rocky Mountain images as well as the popular favourites. Unlike other workshops I have been on, Nick rarely pulls his camera from his bag. His focus is on his students and ensuring they come away with the shot they are looking for. Nick is an extremely safe tour guide. He carries all the necessary emergency tools; satellite phone, first aid kit, ropes, ice augur, etc. He is the REAL DEAL.

The tour was to Abraham Lake to photograph the bubbles. We attempted the trip in early January and spent four hours looking for bubbles with no joy. Our weekend with Nick was extremely challenging with -42C temperatures. Nick not only knew where to go for the bubbles but had been there days before performing measurement tests and finding the problems with the ice surface to avoid. We left Canmore early, stopping in Banff National park several times for photo opportunities. We left Lake Louise at around noon and arrived Abraham Lake about 15:00. We stopped for more photos along the way. When we arrived at the lake, Nick walked straight to the bubbles, within 5 minutes of leaving the vehicle we were on the ice, photographing the bubbles and stayed there for hours. We stayed in Nordegg at the motel, Nick took care of everything and informed us when the gas station closed and where to get food. Sunday morning we were on the lake again for sunrise and went straight to the best bubbles. With the temperatures my Daughter and I only stayed on the ice surface for an hour but got some really good shots. For the travel back to Lake Louise we stopped at several stops again. Nick was extremely professional, well mannered and a great sense of humor. There was never a swear word or curse word said the entire weekend despite the weather. Nick was a very good family guide. No matter your skill level Nick will provide the photograph knowledge to help in all the situations. Nick provided us with the equipment for the ice, the hand warmers, toe warmers, headlights and even tools to fix our equipment failures. He is an experienced driver on the highway and travelled with safety first. I would recommend Nick.

Thanks Nick for an amazing afternoon of teaching me basic photography tips on how to use my new camera. I am a beginner and he showed tons of patience and took me to some amazing places to take photos that I would have never found on my own. I am looking forward to booking more sessions with him. I would recommend Nick for all levels of photographers. Thanks again for a fun day!!
