    Second ride for this "wrangler"!
An excellent way to experience nature in the mountains. This was a 5-day ride into Bryant Creek area, west of Kananaskis Provincial Park. We rode horses that were accustomed to the mountains and were surefooted on various trail conditions. Be sure to save an apple for your horse, they'll love it. We slept in teepees and there's nothing better than a warm breakfast and hot coffee in the cook tent on a chilly morning. The outdoor shower is hot and easy to use. Campfire songs and storytelling are a fun way to end a day. We made day rides to Owl Lake, Wonder Pass and the majestic Mt Assiniboine, towering up almost 12,000 feet. The rides change every year so there's always a new area to explore with your friends when you return again.

    What an amazing adventure!!
This week away on horseback brings much serenity and wellbeing due to the rides through the beautiful mountains of the Rockies! This was my second time experiencing this amazing ride with awesome people I’ve met…..not to mention the fabulous organization that puts their heart and soul into ensuring every rider has the time of their life! The food is homemade by a great cook, the after dinner guitar serenades by the fabulous staff is a beautiful wrap to the day! Time sure does fly by too fast on this adventure…..which brings me back every year since 2022! Sooo looking forward to another week riding through the Rockies!

10 Year's riding with the Trail Riders of the Canadisn Rockies
I was 63 when I went on my first ride with the Trail Riders of the Canadian Rockies! It was a 6 day ride which included Allenby Pass and the iconic Mt Assiniboine. The scenery was spectacular, horses sure-footed and trustworthy, the tepees were very warm and comfortable, the food was excellent and plentiful, and the cooks and wranglers took great care of us. We had so much fun singing around the campfire in the evenings and getting to know each other. I was hooked and I have been going on a ride with the TRCR every year since then. Imagine yourself riding historic trails in the magnificent Rickies on horseback, as they did when the west was still being explored. The rides are suitable for all ages and levels of riding experience so, I highly recommend the Trail Riders of the Canadian Rockies for the experience of a lifetime.

More than just an incredible horseback ride in the beautiful Rocky Mtns. These yearly guided rides into different mountain camp locations have given me an amazing collection of memories of scenery, experiences, and friends . Advanced riding experience is not required.

I have been riding with Trail Riders of the Canadian Rockies every year since 2018. When I'm on my horses back, heading into the beautiful Rockies, I have an overwhelming sense of well being and think "I need more of this in my life". Therefore....I keep coming back.

There is so much to say about these rides. All my rides half been into different parts of the Rockies, all have been magnificent in the views, flora and fauna. We've seen a wide variety of birds and wild life, including bears that take a look and move on.
The camps have always been well set up with comfortable tents and teepees. There are spacious dining and meeting tents, a camp kitchen that produces yummy meals with lots for everybody. Coffee and a warm fire are ready early in the morning.
Coming back to camp after a long day on your horse, you'll be greeted by a fire and something yummy to eat.

The wranglers are super helpful and knowledgeable about the horses, the area and how to be safe and have fun.
If you're not a horse rider, it's a good idea to have some lessons before spending a week in the saddle. You'll be way more comfortable on your horse. The wranglers always pair your riding ability with the right horse to carry you safely.

Evenings around the campfire are filled with singing, story telling, card playing, horseshoe tossing or sitting in a quiet spot and taking in the amazing skies above.

Bring your cameras as the pictures you take home will help you tell the magnificent story of your ride with Trail Riders of the Canadian Rockies.

The first time I rode with the Trail Riders of the Canadian Rockies was in. Since then, I have returned every year to explore the many areas in Waterton,Banff and Kananaskis Country. That’s how hooked I am! Last year was the 100 Anniversary of the TRCR, and the ride was exceptional. We explored some of the organization’s favourite “stomping” grounds used early on in the past century. It was such a treat.

Exploring the backcountry of the Canadian Rockies on horseback is a unique experience that few other sports (such as skiing, hiking, biking) provide. Your horse does the hard work, and they love it. They love going up mountains and down valleys with their buddies, looking up and around like you do. Meanwhile, high up on your saddle, you have a rare vantage of the area you are riding in. At one point last year, we were ascending an 8000-foot-high pass. The happy chattering of the group slowed down and downright stopped at one point. We were all in Ahh; sky, mountain peaks and deep valleys came together in such a breathtaking way. The moment was magical, almost spiritual. A lady behind me murmured a soft, soulful melody, adding to the moment. Shortly after, we arrived at our lunch area where we attempted to capture the moment with our cameras.

Every year, I meet like-minded people from many parts of the world. We become friends and share in this bucket list experience. Base camp is rustic and comfortable. Connection to Wi-Fi does not exist, which is good, but our guides have ways to communicate in case of emergencies. The food is delicious. The best is that you do not have to worry about anything. A team of highly professional wranglers, cooks, and guides cares for everything. And the TRCR’s emcee (host) ensures you are comfortable and everyone is having a great time.

If you want a genuine experience where you are more than just the consumer or the observer, I strongly recommend riding with the Trail Riders of the Canadian Rockies.

As a seasoned traveller this is the BEST trip I have ever taken. The most beautiful, peaceful, memorable, picturesque opportunity. I am sooo glad I took another travellers recommendation. We may go back for our 25th anniversary. <3 Book the cabin if you are not fond of sleeping in the teepee's.

Did a 6 night ride the week after Labor day. Stayed at 2 different camps. Allen was our emcee from TRCR. Outfitter was Banff Trail Riders. Erica and April were great guides. Camp certainly wasn't luxurious but the food was good and the views spectacular. Never know what to expect from stable horses but these horses were well conditioned, sure footed and knew their job. We climbed some really (!!) steep mountains and waded through rocky rivers daily - about 7 hrs a day in the saddle. Would definitely do it again

From start to finish, this week was amazing. It is a volunteer organization, so you know the leaders pour their heart and soul into carrying on the tradition of creating memorable experiences. Camp facilities are comfortable, with delicious meals and trail lunches. The cots and thick foam sleeping pads provide cozy dreamtime. We quickly became like family, with evening songs and stories and recollections of the day's rides. I am so happy to have taken advantage of this opportunity to hear and see the historic beauty of this magnificent landscape in the company of enthusiastic participants and top-notch wrangling staff!
