I had a fabulous time on this tour, getting the chance to be so close to Alberta's rare wild horses was a a magical experience for me. The Wolfdog sanctuary was eye opening, I was fascinated by the life of these unique creatures. Thank you Highlight Adventures for showing me the wonders of the Alberta foothills I wouldn't have seen otherwise!

Had a wonderful time exploring Kananaskis Country and dreaming of the wild west on this extremely well run tour! I have lived in Alberta most of my life and had no idea the beauty and majesty this area holds. Each stop on the tour is met with passionate and friendly people eager to share their knowledge and show you what makes the place so special. As an animal lover, I was so excited for the wolf-dog and wild horse sanctuaries, and the Fallentimber Meadery will not disappoint! Such an excellent day with excellent memories to take home.

This tour was incredible from start to finish! We got picked up from our hotel around 8 am, and immediately the fun began. Our tour escort was welcoming from the get go, and set us up with some great snacks, drinks, and itinerary for the day! Our first stop on the tour was the wolf dog sanctuary which certainly did not disappoint. We received information about the sanctuary and its purpose, and were welcomed to explore the grounds. I was impressed not only by the wolf dogs, but also the goats and donkey! Although you don't get to touch the wolf-dogs, they have 2 large dogs roaming around the property that you're welcome to get some cuddles in with! Next stop, we took off to a wild horse sanctuary (WHOAS) that is run by the SPCA. We started with meeting and petting a couple horses on property and then jumped on a small wagon in search of a wild horse pack! We quickly found them with the help of our cowboy that was leading the way! This was really an authentic experience, and definitely one of my favourite parts! We stopped for lunch in an adorable town called Water Valley, which is small but has large character. We had time to peak into a few shops such as the General Store and Insomniacs Attic(must see!), and then filled up with a large 2 patty burger which the 1935 saloon is famous for! Lunch was pre-ordered and included in our tour so we didn't wait long once we got to the saloon. The food was great, and our guide did a really good job at providing personalized service & bringing the group together so lunch was a lot of fun! With our appetites satisfied, we headed off to our final destination; Fallentimber Meadery. This family owned and operated artisan Meadery was incredible! We got to tour where the mead is made, and found out how it is made. My favourite part was speaking with the sons that run the Meadery with their father and the clear passion that goes into their work! We learnt not only about mead, and honey but also about bees in the ecosystem. I cannot say how much I loved this stop! I really enjoyed having extra time to roam the grounds in search of owls that like to hang out in the near by trees. I purchased a few tasty drinks of "mead-jito" and "ginger-mead" to take home with me to enjoy later, and did not regret it.. yummy! I really recommend this tour for anyone that is looking for unique, and authentic experiences that show case what Alberta has to offer. The tour is very well paced, and the day really flies by! I finished my day, in awe of the many things that I had seen and done, but also the great people and friends that I had made a long the way. It truly was a memorable experience.

Highlight Adventures introduced me to some hidden gems in my own backyard. As an animal lover I was especially excited to see the wolf dogs and horses. Our guide, Alex, at the wolf dog sanctuary was very knowledgable and able to answer my many questions. The animals appeared healthy and their enclosures were well treed and generous in size. Nathan, the owner at the meadery, was very friendly and knowledgable about mead and bees. I never knew bees were so fascinating! The samples of mead were generous and very tasty. It was great to meet some passionate volunteers from the Wild Horses of Alberta Society (WHOAS) who were able to share some information about the wild horses. The horses at the facility were generally friendly (there were a couple that were a bit shy) and most came up for pets. On the drive home we drove through some beautiful country and were even able to see a small herd of wild horses.I would recommend this tour for anyone wanting to experience a great day out.

What an incredible tour, seeing the foothills and getting out of Banff for a day of wolfdogs and cowboys! Loved seeing that the wild west is still alive in Alberta. The Meadery and foothills tour were real highlights for me. Jon was very knowledgeable and happily put up with all my questions about the area, wildlife and people who live there, our driver Brad was very friendly and knew the roads like the back of his hand.
