Johnston Canyon Icewalk

Trying to trek along the frozen Johnston Canyon without a guide could be tough in frigid temperatures with icy walkways. Opt to take this guided tour from Banff, and see wildlife, waterfalls, and, of course, a lot of ice. Plus, this tour provides round-trip transport, ice cleats, a hiking pole, a snack, and a hot cup of cocoa to make things super easy on you.

Easy to access via shuttle bus from Banff. Fantastic views to Banff, great photo opportunities of the surrounding area. The Gondola was lots if fun and felt safe. At the top of the mountain was a restaurant/food options. There was also a not too difficult walk to a look out that was worth the shirt hike. The path was wooden and well maintained. Great overall atteaction.

What a stunning view at the top. Don't miss this experience and make sure to head up an hour before sunset. And dine at the Sky Bistro. Food is amazing! If you're going to dine, buy the package deal.

Visited on a Thursday afternoon in November. Admission prices were a bit expensive (~$65 per person), but it was worth it when we got to the top. Starbucks at the bottom of the Gondola was open, so we grabbed a coffee and hopped in to get to the top. The gondola ride was around 8-10 minutes long, was very smooth/relaxing and the view was incredible. Once you arrive at the top there is a gift shop & restaurant (although the restaurant was closed due to Covid). The boardwalk at the top takes around 20 minutes to walk all the way to the summit of the mountain, and the view from there is priceless. Overall we spent around 2.5-3 hours from our arrival to when we left - so I'd say it was definitely worth it.

My family had a great time on the Gondola. You can grab a Starbucks at the bottom for the ride up. The gift shop at the top was open. You were allowed to walk around at the top with amazing views as well as the view of the town of Banff. We booked online so it was a fast scan when we got there. But you also have the option of buying tickets there and limes went quickly.
