All I can say is WOW!! I have been on several gondolas and this will be one of the most memorable. It definitely is not for those with fear of heights! Keep the following in mind, once you exit the gondola from the top of the mountain, you will get the best views from climbing up the mountain. There are... More

Thank you for visiting and sharing your review of the Banff Gondola. I'm pleased to hear you enjoyed your experience, and took the extra effort to hike all the way along the boardwalk to Sanson's Peak for the best views. Generally the only time the gondola stops is just for those guests who need a little extra time boarding or... More

We rode the gondola to the observatory near the top of Sulfur Mountain and then walked the many steps to the top. The wooden boardwalk and steps make the climb easier, and there are great views, often with seating, at each level, so if you decide to stop before you reach the top, you still feel it's worth the trip!

We truly enjoyed the long walk up the mountain after the gondola ride. There were young ranger-like people with hands on nature exhibits, very interactive. We saw a marmot and Columbian ground squirrels!

August is tourist season! It was so overcrowded I couldnt believe my eyes. We took the shuttle from town (which I suggest because the parking would have been impossible in August) Then when we got there we got our boarding ticket (thank god we got our original tickets in town or we would have had to stand in another long... Up the gondola, then a short hike to the weather observatory. A whole lot to see along the way. Order tickets in advance or be prepared to wait for at least an hour. You can walk, it is 5.7km up and would take up to two hours.

The view of Banff is fabulous. We made the mistake of arriving later in the day and were lucky to find a parking spot unlike some other late arrivers. Spots were limited due to the construction work being done. The boardwalk at the top made for a variety of views from Sulphur mountain. It was very crowded with tourists the... More

Walked up Sulphur Mountain taking couple of hours ( suggested time 4 hours), and once at the top there is substantial decking over a wide area to allow for tourists.
