About
There’s no comparing the emerald green waters of Minnewanka with any urban landscape. Mountain ridges stretch as far as the eye can see, eventually blurring into a blissful cascade of colours.

Very picturesque lake that doesn't get the credit that it deserves. Definitely a must-see in Banff. I went in early May and there were only a handful people there.

Lake is still frozen....was a beautiful sight. Stunning place for photos. Walking along the lake was so nice. On a nice day pack a picnic. Gorgeous place to spend some time walking/biking/running around the lake.

It’s a very stunning place. I think it’s better to visit when it’s warm but still frozen was amazing.

Would have loved to see after the ice melted. We were there on May 1st and still frozen. Would love to walk around the area when not so cold. Was able to see mountain goats along the road.

The views were beautiful... lovely spot to park and walk around the area and experience the mountain air.

It is very beautiful there. We made a short trekking, about 2 hours, enjoying still frozen lake and surroundings.

Visited in late April where the snow started to melt. The weather wasn't the best but we still thoroughly enjoyed it. The drive was scenic with multiple stops for photos. Would love to come back in summer.

We went on the Wildlife and History tour. Which took us to lake Minniewanka. The history there was surprising you have to take the tour to find out threw discover tours.

A short drive from Banff, there are supposed to be good walking trails nearby. There was tons of snow, and we were only equipped for light hiking, an hour max. We were unable to go on any of the trails which were covered in snow...More

Very scenic spot with some fantastic photo opportunities for those who like to capture landscapes. Only walked a short section of one trail, the lake is huge so what ever you do don't expect to get around it in half a day!

You will need one. It’s well off the beaten path, but worth it.

Usually not due to the longer daylight hours. The aurora can be seen more often during winter and at farther north locations
